Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Yohsog. (editor list)
- Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. Recode's equivalent of bleed defense; it is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% bleed defense, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed.
- If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages, that is, a creature with 100% Block Bleed will have some fraction of bleed defense while growing, being such fraction bigger as it grows.
- A negative value in-game may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect this ability is supposed to protect from.
- Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
- Charge (Throw) or Throw Charge is a specific type of Charge that launches the target upwards and inflicts two Broken Legs Status on the victim. It has a 5-second windup and cooldown.
- Frostbite touch/Defensive Frostbite is an ability that defensively deals frostbite when bitten.
- Frosty is a passive ability, equivalent to Legacy's Winter Tag, and causes the creature with the tag to receive an +25% stamina regeneration, +25% health regeneration, -25% thirst depletion, and -25% hunger depletion during Winter and Famine seasons.
- Ice Breath is an active ability using the breath control (C on PC or on Mobile) that is a type of Elemental Breath that inflicts 1 DPS (0.5% PER HIT). It has a Capacity of 5 seconds of firetime before recoil damage, a Regen Rate of 3.5, and a Range of 200 studs. Ice Breath can also inflict the following ailments: SLOWED (Probability = 40%, no stacking), and FREEZE (Probability = 10%, no stacking).

Trivia
- Concept by Stood_04 in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord.
- Animated by Rook.
- Yohsog originally had a much bouncier run animation, but the animator Rook disliked the way it looked. They completely remade the animation to what it is now in-game.
- Re-animated by Mukudori.
- It has one of the largest gender differences in the game, only followed by Boreal Warden, Qurugosk, and a few others.
- The legacy Yohsog lacks ambush, like many other omnivores.
- Was confirmed to have the Snow Shield ability, but a day after release it got scrapped due to how Snow Shield can, at times, cause other players or the user themselves to be stuck in the wall of the shield. This was reverted on Recode.
- It is the second creature to have sky-blue blood on Legacy, the first being Yenyasha.
- Due to this, when killed, the Yohsog drops a carcass of the same sky-blue color.
- This is an actual color in some Earth creatures, from those that use hemocyanin, a blue oxygen carrier that replaces hemoglobin in some invertebrate's blood, though not this light of a shade. In fact, it looks more similar to that of the Antarctic icefish, which have white/transparent blood due to the complete lack of oxygen carriers, the plasma and the white cells being the ones coloring its blood.
- During Yohsog's release in the Winter Event of 2021-2022, its price was set to 10,000 Bells initially by mistake, and then corrected to 7,000 Bells in a soft patch, meaning it would only appear in newly-populated servers post-patch at the time and not in older servers.
- This was the second time this occurred during the Winter Event of 2021-2022, first occurring with Varskela.
- The Yohsog is affectionately referred to as "Woose" by the playerbase due to its whale and moose-like appearance. Upon its first release it was rumored to be called this, but was later revealed it would be the "Yohsog".
