The Venuella is a Tier 5 land photocarnivore. The species is available in the Mission System as a Secret Mission Reward. The trial version is available in the Trial Creatures Shop for 150♂/1500♀ Shooms.
Description
“ | A predatory photocarni hydra of huge size that lives in a tropical climate. Venuella does not need water, but often lives near water sources, where the air is more humid. These hydras do not actively hunt, waiting for careless prey among fruit thickets and flowers. Venuella prefers to feed on carrion or insect-like creatures. | „ |
~ In-game Description |
Behavior
- Venuellas rarely leave their comfort zones and can live their entire lives in a flower cave or a cozy oasis.
- Despite the fact that Venuella does not need water, it likes to spend time in small freshwater bodies. During prolonged rains, these creatures can come out of the flower caves, putting their petals to the drops.
- Venuellas rarely hunt and prefer to eat carrion or found carcasses. However, they do not mind ambushing small, inattentive creatures or those too clumsy to get away. It has a special preference for insect-like creatures like the Sha'Rei, Viracniar, Momola, and Beezu.
- Venuellas will not attack other photovores. They also get along with the likes of Lmakosauruodons and Lus-Adarchs.
- Venuellas have several large toothy outgrowths located on its back, belly and tail, which resemble predatory mouths. The inner pink part of these outgrowths secretes a strong toxin that helps the Venuella digest food and defend against enemies.
- Venuella can live in large groups, but rarely gather in numbers of more than five individuals. If they become crowded, Venuella may begin to compete for territory among themselves. Such rivalry never comes to a fight and is expressed in furious growls and the display of brightly colored body parts.
- When Venuella reaches old age, it finds a quiet place and hides its heads in closed toothy outgrowths. It resembles a huge closed flower bud.
Artist Headcanon
- Due to the slow metabolism, Venuella can go without food for a long time. As hunger increases, the creature releases a special toxin whose strong odor lures other creatures directly into the toothy trap.
- Venuellas have no gender dimorphism because they are hermaphrodite-like. They breed during the spring and cherry blossom season, shedding toothy shoots from their back. At first, babies are very defenseless, but they grow quickly in warmth and near water bodies.
- The color of the Venuella can change with age and mimic the bright plants among which it lives. When several individuals meet, they can show off in front of each other, showing patterns on the inside of the outgrowths. The main color of the body can be muted.
Appearance
The Venuella is a two-headed, long-necked, quadrupedal creature with a stout build (excluding its neck) that borrows several traits from different carnivorous plants, most notably the Venus flytrap. Its thick legs are short and muscular in contrast to the length of its body, with each foot featuring five digits each ending in pointed claws, as well as soft pads at the bottom. Most of its body is covered in long, thorn-like spines that appear in rows and/or line the edge of certain extremities. At the base of Venuella's necks is a ruff that resembles the two-lobed leaf of a Venus flytrap, and its tail — which splits into two parts — carries this resemblance as well. Three tendrils protrude from its back which also resemble Venus flytrap leaves, with both the petiole and trap. Unlike the ruff and tail, these structures end in cilia-like growths rather than the rigid white thorns present across the rest of the body.
The lower jaw of Venuella splits into Venus flytrap-shaped parts. When held together, they resemble a throat pouch, as well as the pitchers of tropical pitcher plants specifically. Several needle-sharp teeth protrude from Venuella's mouth, and its short snout ends in a beak. On its back are parallel sails that are also lined in spines. The entire creature's body features striped patterning and occasional spotting, and it is colored various shades of green and pink by default.
Males
Males have three spines on each of their shoulders.
Females
Females have no additional features.
Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Venuella. (editor list)
- Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. Recode's equivalent of bleed defense; it is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% bleed defense, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed.
- If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages, that is, a creature with 100% Block Bleed will have some fraction of bleed defense while growing, being such fraction bigger as it grows.
- A negative value in-game may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect this ability is supposed to protect from.
- Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
- Corrosion Attack/Corrosion Bite is an ability that offensively deals Corrosion when biting. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
- Day/Night Time Status are an environmental status effect that confers a +5% damage, +25% stamina regen, -10% growth time, +15% health regen; and -5% damage, -25% stamina regen, -15% health regen; respectively, to photovores and photocarnivores.
- Defensive Bleed is a passive ability, where a creature defensively inflicts a specific amount of melee bleed status on an attacker upon getting bitten.
- Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes a creature toxic by melee - that is, being bitten by another creature will cause the attacker to receive Poison Status, as much as the bitten creature has labeled on their stats and affected by modifiers such as some plushies or resistances. Stacks with itself.
- Iron Stomach is a passive ability which allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it - preventing getting the Sickly Status.
- Poison Attack/Melee Venom is a passive ability that makes a creature venomous by melee - that is, biting another creature will cause the victim to receive Poison Status, as much as the attacker has labeled on their stats and affected by modifiers such as some plushies or resistances. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
- Toxic Trap is an active ability inheritor of legacy's Toxic Pile. This ability creates a toxic mud pile that stays for a time and will slowly poison anyone who touches it (excluding the ability user).
- Wing Shredder is a passive ability that allows a creature to offensively deal Shredded Wings status to a creature they bite, with an amount specific of the user creature.
