The Shro is a Tier 3 land herbivore. The species is available in the Herbivores Gacha and the Toxic Gacha. The trial version is available in the Trial Creatures Shop for 25♂/250♀ Shooms.
Description
“ | These creatures are shy and usually do not come out of their hiding spots. They're very speedy, so it's easy for them to flee most of the time, but if that isn't possible- they'll let out fumes at whoever is chasing them, for the period that the creature is blinded they'll quickly find a place to hide. They have arms that are made out of very strong wood, and claws as sharp as steel. | „ |
~ In-game Description |
Behavior
- The Shro's behavior would be similar to a cat. The more comfortable it is around you, the friendlier it is. Essentially, imagine a shy cat but instead it's Shro.
- When it comes to packs, the average amount of Shros per pack is about 6-7, but in rare cases it can reach up to 10-11. Pack members are very playful and friendly towards each other and you can see them playing most of the time. Each pack has a "leader," it can either be male or female but it's usually a male since they're stronger. You can tell who's the leader just from the size and its duller colors (since it's the oldest out of all).
- Shro parents are very protective of their children. The father usually gathers the food while the mother stays at home to sit on and warm up the eggs. These roles could switch depending on the circumstances.
- A mother Shro lays 5-7 eggs per year, and they take 2 months to hatch.
- If you come close to a Shro's nest, you can see colorful flowers and a bunch of rocks around due to those being what the parents bring home as "toys" for their babies to play with.
- A Shro stays with its parents for as long as it wants, and if it wants to leave it's allowed to.
- A Shro's deadliness comes in the form of packs due to increase of poison.
- If a Shro is being attacked it will make a "danger/help" call, which can be heard kilometers away. Its pack members will come to help by screeching at the creature to intimidate it and by scattering a lot of toxic fumes around it, aiming for vulnerable parts such as the eyes. They can also take turns in pecking it (toxic bites mind you) so it can ensure pain upon the predator.
Artist Headcanon
- The mother's poison gets stronger during her time of incubation.
- A baby Shro's mushroom hat is visually bigger than an adult Shro so the young can blend in with the environment more.
Appearance
The Shro has a thin, bipedal build with a mushroom on its head and mushrooms protruding from its back, their arms and legs appear to be made of wood while their claws are made of a hard, unknown material. This material can be assumed to be either Hardwood, Chitin, Keratin or an extremely strong unknown material. Their mushroom head resembles a sheriff's hat.
Males
Males appear to have a fur-like material on their chin.
Females
Females have no additional features.
Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Shro. (editor list)
- Injury Block/Block Injury is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting Injury status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 Injury per hit and the receiver has 60% Injury Block, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 Injury.
- Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
- Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes a creature toxic by melee - that is, being bitten by another creature will cause the attacker to receive Poison Status, as much as the bitten creature has labeled on their stats and affected by modifiers such as some plushies or resistances. Stacks with itself.
- Egg Stealer is an active ability that allows certain creatures to actively interact with nests in order to eat the eggs from a nest , stealing them as edible food to consume later. Previously, you could steal your own eggs, but currently you cannot unless the egg and nest range have areas where they don't overlap. Creatures with this ability can pick up eggs and must break open the egg to eat them, via biting. Any creature can break a stolen egg. A creature may know how close is to open the egg by the amount of cracks covering it. Once an egg is open, its label will change to "scrambled" and its yolk will be exposed to eat. All creatures with the ability to eat can break and consume such eggs, therefore photovores with this ability cannot eat the eggs. Consuming a scrambled egg grants satiation. Taking an egg will make the respective nest progress for that egg reset to 0, and can only be recovered if a female creature recovers the egg and places it back on their nest (the original nest the egg was stolen from for the original nester, and a creature's own nest for any other female). Scrambled eggs cannot be recovered. When an egg is returned to the nest, its health is restored to full. If a creature has this ability, eggs are also highlighted with an egg icon when scenting.
- Harden is an active ability which decreases movement speed by 20% in trade of a 35% increase in weight and 25% increase in health regeneration. Does not affect turning rate or turning speed.
- Injury Attack is an ability that offensively deals injury status when biting. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
- Iron Stomach is a passive ability which allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it - preventing getting the Sickly Status.
- Jump is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight and inheritor of the Early Legacy Release jump ability (an ability which never made it past Legacy's Early Release), by pressing space allows a creature to project a parabolic trajectory jump on land, thanks to recode's realistic gravity, and based on the creature's inertia at the time of the jump. However, creatures can turn during jumping, and sometimes running at the same time of the trajectory allows for a limited trajectory correction. If a semi-aquatic (or all-terrain/flier with semi-aquatic characteristics) creature with Jump starts swimming and tries to jump, they will Dart instead. Not all creatures have this ability, even if their mobility type is compatible.
- Jump has an associated speed boost, stamina consumption (and below that threshold a creature will be unable to jump), and age limit for every creature. Beyond that age limit, a creature will be unable to jump - that field is commonly used for creatures which will develop Glide or Flight on a later growth stage. In fact, if on our infoboxes only appears a jump age stat, that means that the creature has actually jump 0 (no jump) and on the stage that jump supersedes Glide or Flight, it is equivalent as to being unable to jump nor flight nor glide.
- Poison Attack/Melee Venom is a passive ability that makes a creature venomous by melee - that is, biting another creature will cause the victim to receive Poison Status, as much as the attacker has labeled on their stats and affected by modifiers such as some plushies or resistances. Stacks with itself. A negative value means that it heals an amount of such status upon biting.
- Totem is an active ability which allows the adult creature to drop a "lamp" totem that looks like radioactive green mud, which stays for 2 minutes. It will affect any user in range with a lingering effect of stacking 1 extra Of the Status Effect (f.ex. poison... mentioned in detail on the advanced section) per second, wherever they are, until are out of range. These totems can be destroyed if hit enough times.
- Toxic Trail is a passive ability activated only while the creature is below a customized % health value, leaving behind a trail made up of segments lasting 5 seconds. Stepping on the trail causes 3% damage per second and 3 poison per second.
- Toxin Breath is an active ability using the breath control (C on PC or
on Mobile) that is a type of Elemental Breath that inflicts 0.5 DPS (0.25% PER HIT). This ability has a Capacity of 20, a Regen Rate of 3.5, a Range of 250 studs, and it can inflict the Poison Status ailment (Probability = 75%, STACKS set to 0.5).
Carry-able Creatures
The Can-Carry lists features lists of creatures that Shro is carried by, can carry (grab), can latch, and can be latched by in RECODE. To see the lists and their toggles to view each, click on the collapsible text to the right of the table below, to Expand or Collapse the list.

Trivia
- Designed by @Yorevole in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord.
- The Shro didn't really have much inspiration, "only thing i took inspiration for this one was its 'hair' things that come out of its mushroom hat, other than that everything else was my add-ons. Shro was based off.. mushrooms yea." (Quoted by concept creator Yorevole)
- Modeled and animated by Erythia.
- Redesigned by @Yorevole.
- Modeled by MidnightAJC8308.
- Due to its name sounding like "Shroom" (short for "Mushroom", another way to call the Shoom currency), sometimes it will be confused with Shooms.
- On June 18th, 2021, the Shro was moved from the Random Gacha, Herbivores Gacha, and Toxic Gacha to the Session Gacha. After Celeritas came out, it was moved back to the Herbivores Gacha, along with Gramoss.
- The Shro's were originally meant to change depending on what biome they were in. For example, if it's in the Tundra biome it would be white with a hint of blue. There's a rare variant of Shro that would have lived in volcanic areas.
- The Volcano Shro variant was originally meant to be a second palette.
