The Sha'Rei (Pronounced /ˈʃɑː ˈɹeɪ/ (click to listen)) is a Tier 3 semi-aquatic omnivore. The species is available in the Mission System as a Mission Reward. The trial version is available in the Trial Creatures Shop for
100♂/1000♀ Shooms.
Description
| “ | Sha'Rei are semi-aquatic omnivorous arthropods. They navigate underwater using fins on their hind legs, scavenging vegetation and plankton. They possess the unique ability to change their hide's color to blend into their tropical environments. | „ |
| ~ In-game Description |
Behavior
- Sha'Rei are relatively nervous creatures and would rather flee than fight any assailants. Similar to 'playing possum,' they're more likely to stand there and believe the creature hunting them doesn't see them, consequently dying for it.
- Sha'Rei are not intelligent whatsoever and have no capacity for sapience.
- Female Sha'Rei eat their mates once they lay their eggs. If they don't, then their babies do once they hatch.
- Female Sha'Rei are about twice the size of males, with a larger sail on their back, and clawed fins.
- Males are significantly smaller and lack claws on their fins.
- While their normal coloration is similar to a maple leaf, Sha'Rei can change color at a whim to blend in with their surroundings.
- Sha'Rei 'communicate' simply through changing shades.
- Sha'Rei digest their food with an enzyme they inject with their front mandibles.
- Sha'Rei can be found in both steamy tropics and cooler temperate regions.
Appearance
The Sha'Rei is a hexapedal arthropod creature that largely resembles leaf bugs. As such, it has an overall insect-like appearance, with maple leaf-like appendages protruding from certain parts of its body (e.g. the neck, legs, and tail), which consist of colors that would likely be presumed as autumn hues. The Sha'Rei also possesses two pairs of antennae and claws that come from the tips of the lower maple leaf extremities.
Males
Males have no additional features.
Females
Females have wing talons.
Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Sha'Rei. (editor list)
- Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second:
- 100% more stamina regeneration
- 50% more total stamina
- 75% more walk speed
- 75% more sprint speed
- A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has)
Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
- Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
- Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
- Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
- Dart is an active ability of the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight that propels the creature forward in water while consuming a set amount of stamina. Both the speed boost and stamina consumption depend on the creature. All creatures capable of jump that are semi-aquatic can dart when underwater, along with aquatic species. A dart will become a jump if the impulse propels the creature outside of water. If there is not enough stamina, a creature cannot dart.
- The wiki prepends to dart power a negative symbol ("-") to determine if a creature's dart propels backwards.
- Defensive Necropoison is a passive ability that makes the user deal Necropoison Status to an attacker upon being bitten. It stacks with itself, but does not get worse over time.
- Escape Area is an active ability that causes 40% total HP damage to the user in exchange for a 100% above-ground movement speed boost and a 50% damage debuff for 10 stacks. It has a 75 second cooldown. Additionally, any of the user's depleted stamina is fully replenished. It cannot be used if the user is at less 40% health total.
- Invisibility is an active ability that makes the user invisible to other players when toggled. Invisibility allows the user to walk and swim cloaked as long as they don't bite, use any active ability, sprint, ambush, or jump/fly/glide. While active it does not hide the creature from being spotted by scent. Additionally, invisibility has a 30 second cooldown after being activated; however, deactivating the ability does not modify the cooldown.
- Jump is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight that allows a creature to jump on land. Creatures can turn during jumping. If a semi-aquatic creature with Jump starts swimming and tries to jump, they will Dart instead.
Jump has an associated speed boost, stamina consumption, and age limit for every creature. Beyond that age limit, a creature will be unable to jump - that field is commonly used for creatures which will develop Glide or Flight on a later growth stage.
- If a creature's infobox on the wiki only has a jump age stat, that means that the creature has actually jump 0 (no jump) and on the stage that jump supersedes Glide or Flight, it is equivalent as to being unable to jump nor flight nor glide.
- Soft Landing is a passive ability that allows the user to fall more slowly, depending on each creature's specific stat number. It works when walking off cliffs/falling, detaching, darting, or jumping. It is cancellable by pressing (Space on PC or
or B on Xbox).
Carry-able Creatures
The Can-Carry lists features lists of creatures that Sha'Rei is carried by, can carry (grab), can latch, and can be latched by in RECODE. To see the lists and their toggles to view each, click on the collapsible text to the right of the table below, to Expand or Collapse the list.
Can-Grab ListThis section is intended to list the non-elder fully-grown adult creatures that the non-elder fully-grown Sha'Rei can grab and carry (pick-up), taking into account if this creature has grab/latch and discounting any other special abilities. The Sha'Rei (a(n) omnivore) is a tier 3 with 2250 lbs of weight and as long as it has the Grab Ability, it can pick up any creature of lower or equal tier with enough lighter weight difference.* There is no creature which the Sha'Rei can currently carry
Grabbed-By ListThis section is intended to list the non-elder fully-grown adult creatures that can grab and thus carry a non-elder fully-grown adult Sha'Rei taking into account grab/latch abilities and discounting special abilities. Trivia
- Concept by torviin and aelures in the Creatures of Sonaria Discord.
- According to torviin, Sha'Rei is inspired by Autumn, shrimp, treehoppers, and leaf insects. Despite common misconceptions, it draws no inspiration from mosquitoes.
- Legacy Sha'Rei has dark orange blood. Due to this, it drops a dark orange carcass in the Legacy version when dying.
- In real life, some creatures have orange shades of blood; for example, when cockroaches are carrying eggs, their hemolymph gets colored by the eggs' albumin protein.
- While on Legacy it has no known abilities apart from defensive Necro Poison and Invisibility, there have been some people who believe it may have an additional ability which gives Necro Poison when the Sha'Rei bites or is nearby in very specific conditions. This came from a recording where one young Sha'Rei bit an AFK Bengon during volcanic eruption and somehow the Bengon got necro poison.
- Sha'Rei's mud roll animation is somewhat similar to the 'get stick bugged' meme, which is intended.
