This is the recode-only page for Opralegion. To read information about the legacy-only Opralegion, see Opralegion/Legacy, or select the Legacy Opralegion link from the NavNext.

The Opralegion is a Tier 5 flying omnivore, as well as an Ex-Developer Creature representing Wolfragon. The species is available in the Robux Shop for Robux 449 Robux. The trial version is available in the Trial Creatures Shop for Shoom 1200/12000 Shooms.

Description

Majestic and otherworldy, Opralegion have a very caring personality and tend to watch over smaller creatures. When being observed, creatures will mistakenly attack them as they have a habit to hover over creatures they are curious about; Which makes them feel hostile and predatory.
~ In-game Description

Behavior

  • Generally, Opralegion are passive and, unless provoked, will usually fly around in the skies.
  • Tends to help guide lost creatures back to their homes and be a beacon of guidance to other creatures.
  • When attacked, they prefer not to attack back unless highly threatened, in which they will display aggression back and attempt to scare you off rather than kill.
  • They like to hover over creatures which makes them seem predatory, but in fact Opralegion think that anything beneath its shadow is safe.
  • Its eyes are sometimes described as an abyss that stares back.

Appearance

The Opralegion is a giant whale-like creature adorned with golden markings and patterns across its body. It has six arms, a tail with six tail fins, three sets of golden horns pointing forwards. In the horns you can see four set of eyes and a big eye in the middle. It also had a large arrangement of floating feather-like forms atop the creature's torso and several floating bits around the body. It consists of golds, blues, whites, and light grays.

Males

Males lack the details females present.

Females

Females have an additional eye/disk on their necks and crystal decorations floating on their back tail.

Abilities

Main Article: Creature Abilities

This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Opralegion. (editor list)

  • Agile Swimmer is passive ability, similar to legacy's Streamlined, which buffs the player when submerged underwater for more than a second, receiving the following buffs:
    • 100% more stamina regeneration
    • 50% more total stamina
    • 75% more walk speed
    • 75% more sprint speed
    • 15% more oxygen, if the creature is a semi-aquatic; 180% more oxygen otherwise.
    • Additionally, like with legacy Streamlined, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted, since until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
    • Note that since most of these are multipliers, creature incapable of naturally recovering stamina underwater do not get any stamina regeneration boost (as any fraction of 0 is still 0).
  • Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. Recode's equivalent of bleed defense; it is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% bleed defense, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed.
    • If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages, that is, a creature with 100% Block Bleed will have some fraction of bleed defense while growing, being such fraction bigger as it grows.
    • A negative value in-game may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect this ability is supposed to protect from.
  • Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn.
    • If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages, that is, a creature with 100% burn defense will have some fraction of burn defense while growing, being such fraction bigger as it grows.
  • Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
  • Injury Block/Block Injury is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting Injury status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 Injury per hit and the receiver has 60% Injury Block, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 Injury.
  • Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
  • Cause Fear is an active ability and Recode's equivalent of Fear; gives all creatures around the user 10 stacks of Scared Status effect.
  • Dart is an active ability of the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight, similar to ambush in terms of being a temporary speed boost that propels the creature forward, but restricted to water and usually far less stamina-consuming. All creatures capable of jump and with the proper semi-aquatic mobility type can dart when underwater. A creature cannot dart while strafing nor outside water, but a dart will become a jump if the impulse propels the creature outside water.
    • Dart has an associated speed boost and stamina consumption for every creature. If there's not enough stamina, the creature cannot dart.
  • Diver is a passive ability that grants a creature the ability to temporarily keep flying underwater for a short period. The exact period is displayed in the information section, in seconds. As a side effect, and probably due to buggy behavior, it sometimes allows the user of this ability to regain stamina underwater, particularly during violent winds.
  • Flight is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight and inherent to all Fliers and legacy mobility type All-Terrain creatures have this ability. However, due to the fact all-terrain got absorbed into Flier, this means that with purely recode terminology, only fliers have the ability. Creatures with flight ability as dominant cannot jump per se (only with jump superseding flight if jump has a certain jump age value), they instead enter flight or glide mode - however some creatures may also present the jump ability replacing the flight one as the dominant at some point in their live stage. Flying and takeoff both take stamina. If there's not enough stamina, the creature cannot fly. A creature with flight can switch between flight and glide and vice-versa without that switch costing stamina.
  • Glide is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight and inherent to all gliders and glider semi-aquatics have this ability as primary. However, due to the fact glider semi-aquatics got absorbed into Semi-Aquatics, the correct recode terminology would be to say that all Gliders and a few Semi-Aquatics and Aquatics have this ability as primary. Flier (and all-terrain) creatures have this ability as well, but the Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight button is not their primary, but the toggle glide button. Creatures with glide ability cannot jump per se, they instead enter flight or glide mode, unless jump supersedes them via some jump age value. If there's not enough stamina, the creature can hardly glide. Depending on some creature factors like tier and glide stamina regeneration, as well as some environmental conditions, a creature can or cannot regain stamina while gliding.
  • Gold Breath is a type of Elemental Breath that inflicts 1 DPS (0.25% PER HIT). It has a Capacity of 25 seconds of firetime before recoil damage, a Regen Rate of 3 seconds a Range of 250 studs, and a Critical chance of 10%. Gold Breath can inflict the following ailments: BlurredVision (Probability = 60%, no stacking) potentially impairing the target's vision, and FREEZE (Probability = 10%, no stacking).
  • Grab is an active ability, the recode's equivalent of Legacy's creature "grab a lighter creature", allowing a creature to pick up a lower-tiered creature. Unlike legacy's, it has several pecularities, among them that grabbing is no longer based on weight, but tier. Another peculiarity is that grabbed creatures cannot escape until 5 seconds later. After that, the grabbed creature can struggle by using any button and will release such creature from the grab. The user can ungrab at any moment by pressing the same button used to grab. A creature darting from outside water will grab any creature it finds automatically. Interestingly enough, using this ability may also make a piece of grabbed food drop.
  • Healing Hunter is a toggleable active ability which allows the creature to deal healing melee hits which replenish the target's HP when hitting. Code-wise it's more than the Negative Attack legacy version, since it does not just give a negative base attack value, hence the name; but it also allows the healer to toggle between melee heal mode and attack mode, when the healer becomes actually capable of dealing melee damage, albeit at a different value according to their individual and species stats. It also prevents bleed and poison-booster plushies from giving extra offensive bleed or poison when hitting under melee healing mode.
    • It can be known if a healing hunter creature is on healing mode by the presence of a pink hollow sphere with pink healing cross particles surrounding part of their body.
  • Keen Observer is a passive ability that allows the user to see the health of nearby creatures as a green HP bar over them. It also includes the ability to see equipped Plushies and all the Traits and status effects affecting them, albeit not their exact levels or ascension directly. Temporary or status buffs are set on green, temporary status debuffs on red, traits now present their correct indicator and plushies are marked with their plushie icon. These have several advantages, from knowing who to protect, knowing if someone is suffering hypothermia/hunger/dehydration, spotting invisible and scent-hidden creatures, to knowing which target is the weakest/most debuffed and acting in consequence.

Trivia

  • Concept art by LammieLord on the Creatures of Sonaria discord.
    • Inspired by a moodboard for Wolfragon, and the concept creator's personal inspiration was Astrocetus from ARK: Survival Evolved.
    • When asked about the naming of the Opralegion, LammieLord states that she "...had the Pokémon Basculegion in my mind when I came up with the name," and that "...it sounded cool lol and also at the time not a lot of creatures had O as their first letter (at the time it was just Ovufu) so ye"[1]
    • The Opralegion is "meant to resemble a True Biblical angel, hence the many eyes." Along with this, it's a whale and dragon-like (quoted by Wolfragon).
    • The Opralegion's first draft involved a different type of head, but was changed upon request of a head that was more draconic.
    • "Its eyes are actually the floating bits around it..It has no real eyes on its body except the purple-looking eyeballs that are placed around it. - Wolfragon."
    • The second palette is comprised of black, red, and tan colors to incorporate the developer's OC colors called Dragotias. These colors were also chosen to serve as a nice demon-like contrast to the angelic appearance of the default palette.
  • Modeled and rigged by Wolfragon.
    • Wolfragon has clarified that in-game, the Opralegion will never be larger than a Boreal Warden.
    • They have draconic-like teeth, more omnivorous. In the original concept art, the teeth appeared more bristle-like instead.
  • Originally planned to be a sky-aquatic (Skyquatic), meaning it could fly and swim efficiently, but not walk on land, and originally confirmed by Wolfragon to not release until the game's recode; due to the recode being delayed that was no longer the case. As such, it also changed from Sky-Aquatic creature to All-terrain.
    • After Skyquatics finally released in Recode, Opralegion finally became a Skyquatic.
  • Redesign concept art by retronintendo102.
  • Redesign modeled and rigged by Wolfragon.
  • Redesign animated by Mukudori (M_uku).
  • Opralegion has purple/violet blood.
    • Because of that, when dying, it drops a purple carcass.
    • In real life, the change in color is caused by hemerythrin, a respiratory pigment of a purplish/violet color once oxygenated, replacing hemoglobin in several invertebrates.
  • The OG concept creator of Opralegion created a discord profile picture for Wolfragon of Opralegion, inspired/referenced off of a development image they took in a development stream.
  • In Legacy, there was an easter egg underwater where an Opralegion's eye was in a volcanic vent.
  • Some people nicknamed it as the "Whale, Opra, Opera and Bootleg Novus", while others joking refer to it as "Fantasia 2000 Whale" because those whales could fly as well.
