The Halloween Event of 2021 released on October 22nd as the first-ever Halloween-themed event in Creatures of Sonaria and ended on November 15th, 2021 at 7:00 PM PST. The event released a total of four (4) creatures, including the Undoli and Salrahn (from Part 1) Garra Warden (from Part 2), and later, Cryptoth (from Part 3).

Unlike any other event, later in the day on October 28th, 2021, Roblox exhibited buggy behavior due to a third party service-related issue which eventually worsened over time. On October 29th, 2021, Roblox closed the website entirely to focus on the issue. The website was closed off for a full three (3) days, and on October 31st, Roblox began to incrementally allow groups of players to join back to avoid an overwhelming barrage of thousands of players all coming at once.

Following this, Erythia (one of the game owners) announced that the event would extend for an additional three (3) days to compensate for lost time during the time that Roblox was down.

With the event's initial release, it featured Part 1 Halloween content including Undoli and Salrahn, Candy Bags, Wisp Wisps, Lost Souls, and unique Halloween-themed map decorations and season changes. Along with the event came two unique additions such as the introduction of Special Color Palettes and the Saukuryn Remodel.

The event released content in 'parts' similar to previous events, as denoted by the game title containing "PT. 1" during Part 1.

Part 1 (October 22nd of 2021):

Part 2 (November 1st of 2021):

Part 3 (November 5th of 2021):

Pre-Release Information

This section includes pre-release information that was also not yet released in the game and is intended to provide insight on possible features shared with the community by developers in the future.

A sneak peak of what the color palettes will look like.

  • Special Color Palettes: Special color palettes are a new feature that will be introduced during the Halloween Event. These palettes can be used on any creature. There are 3 new special palettes being introduced, their names are as follows:
    • The Demon, Candy Corn, Witches Brew, and the Ocean/Beach palette.
  • Halloween Creatures: There will be four (4) Halloween creatures in total, including the Warden-type creature for this event.

Halloween Store

This event sets itself apart from other events since creatures featured in this event do not appear in an event gacha. Instead, players can buy the species directly from the Halloween Store using the special Halloween Wisp Wisps currency. Players can purchase Halloween species by click the Wisp Wisp currency box on the top right of the Main Menu next to the Tikits currency box.

The Halloween Store, alongside the Special Color Palettes shop that is available when customizing creatures, are the only locations to use Wisp Wisps currency. In the store, players can buy more Wisp Wisps with Robux Robux or buy the special Halloween species and plushies available at the time.

Candy Bags

Candy bags randomly spawn throughout the map, and by touching them, there is a chance of either getting a trick or a treat from candy bags (testing experimentally, there are some trick-only and some treat-only bags, with trick bags being more common, once touched they deliver their cargo and then respawn somewhere else). When a player gets a trick, an audio cue of ghostly screams will play shortly before the bag despawns and a trio of ghosts then spawn in its place. By defeating the Lost Souls, they will drop Wisp Wisps for players to collect. Alternatively, if a player gets a treat, a small jingle will play before several Wisp Wisps pour out of the candy bag for players to collect directly, after which the bag disappears (moves to another location).

For those struggling to locate Candy Bags, please view the following map with candy bag location marks provided by Kaiserinoio in the comments section of this page. Candy bags spawn randomly across the map, but this map points out some of the most common areas for candy bags to appear, still appliable. After Garra Warden got released (1st November 2021), criteria for placing a bag in a terrain became more lax and they can spawn underwater (and also more commonly under lava) too, albeit it's not as likely and not really into very deep waters.

Wisps

A wisp, dropped by treat bags or Lost Souls

Wisps are a special Halloween currency introduced with the release of the event. To obtain Wisp Wisps, players must collect candy bags around the map. Wisp Wisps appear as gentle blue balls of fire-like substances. However, their physics behaves as though they are solid objects that roll and bounce on surfaces, so if they fall from high up, there's a chance they may scatter like beads upon impact with the ground, causing players to hurriedly scout them out before they disappear within a few seconds (around 10-15) of appearing.

Players can purchase the following with Wisp Wisps:

Recommendations

When collecting Wisp Wisps, it's recommended to use a flier or all-terrain, preferably with a lot of speed. While it is possible to gain Wisp Wisps entirely without fighting (and for too-small creatures due to how difficult it can be to hit the Lost Souls, actually faster than trying to fight), this is inefficient since overall, treat bags seem to trick players more often than they treat them. Fliers can cover a lot of ground, making treat bags easier to find, and if the selected creature has a decent amount of speed, it will make fighting the Lost Souls easier.

Lost Souls

Lost Souls (unofficial name) are hostile non-player-characters (NPCs) that spawn when players receive a trick from a candy bag. Lost Souls have 2 known attack patterns: one where they pursue the player, and one where they fly up and fire projectiles at the player. Lost Souls are fully intangible and can cross any terrain without any kind of speed debuff.

Players deal 125 (100 before 1st November 2021) damage to Lost Souls regardless of the creature they play. Lost Souls also deal percentile damage, meaning that it would take the same number of hits for a Lost Soul to kill a Boreal Warden as it would a Jeff.

Recommendations for Defeating Lost Souls

When fighting Lost Souls, any creature can be used, but it is recommended to use a creature with a decent amount of speed, and one with a hitbox that is neither too big (more likely to get hit by projectile attacks) or too small (not big enough to always reach the Lost Souls or collect all the Wisp Wisps automatically on-the-fly), and a high health-regeneration, such as Ura.

When fighting Lost Souls, the best way to deal damage is to attack them when they approach the player, as they will always approach from the front. In order to make the Lost Souls use their melee attack more often, rotate around the Lost Soul so they get 'dizzy' rotating around themselves. In facetank combat, all creatures will fare about the same, only differing in health regeneration, maneuverability, and dexterity.

  • If playing as a flier, it is not recommended to chase after Lost Souls for a long time when they rise into the air. This is because the Lost Soul may just rise higher, making aerial combat inconvenient for low-stamina fliers. Try to use glide and remaining momentum from flight to rise up as often as possible without depleting stamina. For small fliers (which tend to have deep stamina pools and recover stamina fast) it also means that any Wisp Wisps obtained will fall to the ground, opening an opportunity for other players to steal Wisp Wisps. If only interested in getting Wisp Wisps and are only fighting a small amount of Lost Souls, stay on the ground. The "dizzy" trick is also useful for making the Lost Souls stop rising so often (since they only rise when they try to shoot the ranged attack instead of the melee one), in which case players can just glide at the same height and make small adjustments when necessary to distance themselves from ghost attacks.
  • Working together with other players, particularly healers, is also recommended, as Lost Souls pack a punch even with the game's more powerful creatures (the only exception being Ani, which can quickly heal itself and kill an overwhelming number of Lost Souls with barely any effort). If there are no healers, roll in mud, as that will grant boosted health regeneration. If playing a Saukuryn and have a friend who doesn't mind, try to breathe on them to recover (do not try it otherwise since it'll attract attention from players to try to attack you back).
  • Breath attacks and beams do not work on Lost Souls, nor do any other special ability. Only direct, melee attacks work. Damage done by Lost Souls are percent-based both ways. Lost Souls inflict percent damage on players and players inflict percent damage on Lost Souls. This means it takes the same number of hits for every creature to kill one Lost Soul.
  • If you have an elongated-enough creature with a weird hitbox (f.ex. Ura, Sar'Hingaro, Hikorshii) for newly-spawned Lost Sould you can use a trick so they never perform any attack: run in a straight line a bit so they try to chase you from behind but very close to your head, and bite while running away from them. Since newly-spawned Lost Souls will try to hit you with a melee attack first unless you get too far from them (so you must not run too far), if you manage to run just enough from them to not reach the hitbox point of your body they want to attack, they'll keep moving towards your head without attacking, while you can hit them. This requires practice, but if done correctly you'll be able to take them down without getting hit.
