Creatures of Sonaria has three permanent currencies. These currencies are:
- Shooms — used to buy creatures from Gachas, the Rotation Store, and the Trial Creatures Shop, or be converted into Tikits
- Tikits — used to buy Tokens from the Tokens ShopLEGACY / Token Sub-Shop WindowRECODE and roll the Tikit Gachas LEGACY / Tikit-Based GachasRECODE, being the Royalty Gacha (10 Tikits per spin), Celestial Gacha (20 Tikits per spin), and Mystery Gacha (1 Tikit per spin)
- Time Points — used to buy creatures from the Time Gacha LEGACY / Time Points ShopRECODE
- Daily PointsRECODE EXCLUSIVE — also known as Login Tokens; used to purchase additional Login Rewards.
Additional temporary currencies, such as Wisps and Bells, exist for their respective events and are typically wiped following the event's conclusion.
Permanent Currencies
Shooms
"Mushrooms", "Mush", "Shrooms" or "Shooms" are often displayed by abbreviating a number with the letter "m", for instance, 450m means 450 Shooms (do not confuse with "M", which is used to reference "a million").
There are a few ways of obtaining Shooms in Creatures of Sonaria. The methods of obtaining this main game currency are continuing to grow with suggested future plans in development, such as missions which are currently represented as small tasks in the game as placeholders for future mission functions. For now, here are the current methods available to all players for obtaining Shooms:
- Play the game to receive 5 every 2 minutes that your creature stays alive.
- RECODE: Do Region missions, with each one giving 4 for every mission completed.
- Collect Shooms from fallen meteors that drop 2 RECODE / 1 LEGACY each caused by the Volcanic Eruption event. (Not all meteors drop Shooms).
- Earn a high-enough death reward.
- RECODE: Some redeem codes can be prompted into the Redeem Codes section of the menu to gain Shooms.
- Go to Trading World and obtain Shooms from an exchange or giveaway.
- Or, buy Shooms with Robux (Roblox Currency) in the in-game Shop.
Shoom & Time Farming Method
These methods are popular options for obtaining Shooms over time and usually involve a player selecting a creature with a long-lasting appetite, an specific diet (for Legacy gameplay, Photovore, mostly), or an aquatic creature for the least amount of difficulty to survive.
AFK Farming
AFK Farming is a method of gaining Shooms while a player is not present, hence the name also known as Away-From-Keyboard (AFK) Farming. This is a common method performed by many players in Legacy (and to a far lesser degree, Recode) to stay on top of the game by accumulating Shooms in the background while doing other tasks.
- In Legacy, for tornadoes (but removed from that version), if a player did not have full shelter (a green house icon on the bottom left of the screen), tornadoes would "chase" a player's creature around the map, making AFK farming more difficult, but due to an update, players could completely protect themselves from the tornado by gaining full shelter even while the tornado was on top of a player's creature. Also, in Legacy, the lack of many disasters and meat spawning behaviour made it possible for most creatures to focus into player hotspots (such as desert oasis), so most of the map was fairly empty and chances of being spotted were small.
- In Recode, floods and any event that drastically changes the sea levels of the map, as well as water quality also adds a layer of difficulty to this method, particularly for creatures susceptible of drowning and those which need water to survive. Its multiple disasters, looking for food and both event and biome missions will also force other creatures to move, reducing the chances of not being spotted and making AFK farming into most of the map not really viable in the long term.
The longer a creature can survive, the better it is for AFK Farming.
Appetite is a measure of how long a creature can survive without consuming something required for their diet before starving to death. The higher a number is for an appetite, the longer a creature can last without consuming anything.
On Recode, this appetite stat gained extra detail through the hunger and thirst depletion stats, which meant that now water and food reserves could deplete at different rates.
Creatures that are a popular choice for farming Shooms are:
- LEGACY: Photovores that only require water to survive.
- RECODE: Creatures with Burrowing and Photocarnivores that only require meat to survive.
- Creatures that have a long-lasting appetite around 30 minutes or longer. A single point of appetite would last 30 seconds, 2 points would last for a minute, 10 points would last for 5 minutes, and so on and so forth. A 30-minute appetite is 60 appetite.
- Omnivores with a flexible diet that does not deplete too quickly and that can consume both meat and plants.
- Aquatic creatures of any diet (but specially herbivores) with high appetite stat that survive with little difficulty, and do not need to drink water to survive.
- RECODE: herbivore and omnivore aquatics are preferred over carnivore aquatics.
Calculating Shoom Rates
For Shooms, players may recieve 150 Shooms per hour, assuming you spend that hour not dying. Divide the number of Shooms you need by this number to get the hours you need to grind.
For example, say you want 1,000 Shooms. Since you earn 150 Shooms per hour, you divide 1,000 Shooms / 150 Shooms per hour. This will get you 6.67 hours. So it will take you 6 hours and about 40 minutes to grind for 1,000 Shooms.
- How many Shooms are earned in X amount of time in minutes?
- How much time in minutes does it take to earn X amount of Shooms?
Simple Shoom Calculator
Below is a JavaScript calculator that performs a very basic calculation for determining how long it will take to passively farm for Shooms by existing in the game in minutes. If the calculator is not visible, this is due to limitations set by Wiki Fandom (this website's host) which disables scripts on some devices. In these cases it is recommended to request the Desktop site or switch to a PC to use calculators.
Times to Shooms Table
Tikits
Tikits are a special, highly valuable currency used to purchase Tokens, Special Color Palettes and Material Override Palettes. Additionally, in Legacy they are used to roll the Tikit Gacha; while in Recode, they are used to roll any kind of legacy Tikit-based gacha or recode Tikit-based gacha, including the Mystery Gacha.
Tikits can be acquired via a direct Robux purchase ( 50 Robux = 1 LEGACY/ 40 Robux = 1 RECODE), by selling any of your owned species, which awards 1/25 per sale (that is, it requires selling 25 species to get 1 . Internally, the counter to 25 creatures is referred to as Tikit Points, however it is often better to write Tikits in a fractional manner (something / 25) rather than mentioning Tikit Points), or by exchanging shooms into Tikits. Currently, in both Legacy and Recode, the exchange rate is 800 Shooms to obtain 1 Tikit.
Unlike Shooms, Tikits can not be traded between players. Additionally, all creatures have the same value of 1/25 (except temporary boosts like Daily Boosts) to prevent people from buying out more valuable creatures to farm Tikits with. Finally, it is not possible to sell the last species you own, as it would soft-lock you out of the game.
Time Currency
The developers have said time will not be treated as a permanent linear gain, but instead as a currency. As you play you will gain time, which can then be used to roll a time creatures gachaLEGACY or buy from some time-related shopsRECODE. This will take away however much time that creature was worth from your total play time.
Players gain 1 Time Point for each minute spent playing while spawned-in.
Daily Points
Daily Points, which are also referred to as Login Tokens in the Login Rewards menu (and due to their icon shape, some players call "LeafCoins"), can be claimed every 24 hours and exchanged for additional rewards. Despite being referred to as a Token, Daily Points/Login Tokens are a currency and not a Token, being absent from the Token section of the player's inventory and only viewable from the Login Rewards menu. Tokens, gacha spins, and even specific creatures can be purchased with Daily Tokens.
Like Tikits and Time Points, Daily Points are untradable. Daily Points are the only permanent currency with no Legacy equivalent and exist as part of the Recode's overhauled rewards system.
Temporary currencies
Wisps
Wisps are a special Halloween-time currency introduced during the Halloween Event of 2021. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by collecting Candy Bags for a chance to either receive Wisps directly from the candy bag or by defeating Lost Souls (an unofficial name), also known as ghosts, during the Halloween Event 2021. During the Halloween Event 2022, they could be collected through rotating wisps that spawn around the map, minigames, or paying Robux. Each rotating wisp gave a random number between 1 and 100 wisps.
- Wisps are no longer available after the event concludes; this means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect Wisps after the event. All of the event currency is reset once the event concludes and does not carry over to the next event.
- Wisps were replaced by Candy during the Halloween Event 2023.
Candy
Candy is a special Halloween currency introduced during the Halloween Event of 2023. This event currency is earned by participating in minigames available during the event, from the use of Trick or Treat Tokens, or paying Robux.
The currency returned for the Halloween Event of 2024 and can also be earned by participating in minigames available during the event, from the use of Trick or Treat Tokens, or paying Robux.
- Candy is no longer available after the event concludes; this means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect Candy after the event. All of the event currency is reset once the event concludes and does not carry over to the next event.
Bells
Bells are a special Christmas-time currency introduced during the Winter Event of 2021. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by collecting Present Boxes for a chance to either receive Bells directly from the box, completing diverse tests or unscramblers, or by defeating the Snowman Boss (an unofficial name).
- Bells are no longer available after the event concluded. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event. However, it's not yet clarified if the currency remains stored for the next Winter Event or hidden.
Gifts
Gifts are a special Christmas-time currency introduced during the Winter Event of 2022 which replaced the previous Bells currency. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by collecting Present Boxes for a chance to either receive directly from the box or completing diverse tests or unscramblers; destroying Fallen Stars, or paying Robux.
- Gifts are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Candy Canes
Candy Canes are a special Christmas-time currency introduced during the Winter Event of 2023 which replaced the previous Gifts currency. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by participating in minigames available during the event, from the use of Christmas Present Tokens, or paying Robux.
- Candy Canes are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Eggs
Eggs are a special Easter event exclusive currency introduced during the Easter Event of 2022. Eggs could only be used to buy creatures, spin the Easter Gacha, buy palettes and plushies.
The only three ways to obtain Eggs during that event were:
- Collecting eggs around the map. This is done by touching an egg visible on the map. Each egg collected earns the player 3 Eggs
- Nesting creatures. For nesting a creature, which is inviting someone to your nest as a female to become a juvenile of the nest mother, the player earns 50 Eggs.
- Fighting the Event Boss.
- Eggs were no longer available after the event concluded. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event. As the currency returned for the Easter Event 2023 and nobody had any extra remaining Eggs, the currency does not remain stored for the following Easter Events.
During the 2023 Event, they could only be obtained by:
- Nesting Creatures. For nesting a creature, which is inviting someone to your nest as a female to become a juvenile of the nest mother.
- Participating in the event minigames.
Eggs were reintroduced with a new icon design during the Easter Event of 2024. For this event onward, the Eggs were earned by participating in minigames available during the event, or paying Robux.
- Eggs are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Hearts
Hearts are a special Valentine's event exclusive currency introduced during the Valentines Event of 2023. Hearts can only be used to buy event creatures, palettes and plushies.
The only three ways to obtain Hearts are:
- Collecting hearts around the map.
- Healing other players using Negative Damage, Restoration Beam, and/or Heal Touch.
- Buying them with Robux from the Valentine Store.
- Hearts are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Roses
Roses are a special Valentine's event exclusive currency introduced during the Valentines Event of 2024. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by participating in minigames available during the event, from the use of Valentine's Goody Bag Tokens, or paying Robux.
- Roses are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Points
Points are a special LSS (Land, Sea, Sky) event exclusive currency introduced during the LSS Event of 2024. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by doing certain missions, participating in minigames, donating 50 Shooms per 1 Point, or paying Robux.
- Points are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Shells
Shells are a special currency exclusive to the Summer Paradise main-events, introduced during the Summer Paradise Event of 2023. Shells can only be used to buy event creatures, palettes and plushies.
During the 2023 event, Shells could be obtained by:
- Collecting the rotating blue shells around the map, each of which grants the player a single Shell.
- Completing creature missions, with the amount rewarded differing depending on the mission.
- Buying them with Robux from the Paradise Store.

Pearls are a special currency exclusive to the Summer Paradise main-events, introduced during the Summer Paradise Event of 2024. This event currency, unlike other currencies, is earned by doing certain missions, participating in minigames, or paying Robux.
- Pearls are not available after the event concludes. This means the currency is limited and players will not have the ability to collect more after the event.
Trivia
- There is a UGC hat based on the Shoom currency, named The Shoom, that is purchasable for 50 Robux. It was created by TamBrush.
- Many players tend to refer to Shooms as "Mush" due to Roblox's automatic chat filters.
- In Legacy, a prior update before the tornado, players could go AFK to farm Shooms anywhere on the map. Upon the tornado's initial arrival, it could pick up players underground regardless of their shelter quality. Later, the tornado was updated again to prevent it from picking up players with shelter. This returned the player's ability to AFK farm Shooms.
- Before daily rewards got updated on Legacy, players could obtain Shoom currency from daily rewards in a 14 day cycle, excluding day 4, 7, 9, 13, and 14.
- On Legacy, time currency does not have a symbol of its own.
- During Beta, Shooms used to be called Shrooms. This was changed once the game left its beta state due to the name's correlation to illicit substances.
Shoom devaluation:
It has been clearly proven that over time, the general value of a certain number of shooms or currency has decreased considerably:
- Originally, Limited gacha costed 750 shooms to roll, then 1000, then 2500.
- Winter creatures costed 800 (Sleirnok), up to 1000 (Boreal Warden) from the original Winter Event.
- For the following event that was no longer the case: Sleirnok costed 7500 bells (which if you were extremely-efficient costed 5 hours, in that time you gained 5*150 = 750 shooms), Jotunhel costed 14000 bells (so approximately 1500 shooms minimum) and Boreal 25000 bells (3150 shooms approx).
- On the first months of the game, most things didn't cost more than 9000 because trade realm system was a lot more restrictive price-wise.
- Until May this limit was not much of an issue, with Boreal Warden costing 14 000 max from trade because people believed it was not coming back, ever, Keruku costing from 9000 to 16000 tops, and everything else far below the 9000 shoom cap.
- Paying for any other warden more than 6000 outside its event was considered a scam, specially for Verdant, which back during Easter Event 2021, could be obtained for 1250 shooms, 1500 once Kyiki got added to the Easter gacha, even when the tendency to inflate the base prices had already started, because back at the time players were accustomed for events not costing more than the limited gacha price at the time, 1000 shooms (apart from the 2020 Winter Event, Valentine's event 2021 costed 500 the first week for Faecalu, 750 the second week once Fyluf was added, and 1 000 once Ardor Warden got released) and most of the playerbase complained about how expensive having any creature over 1000 shooms was.
- Random generic gacha still existed, from where all creatures except developers, limited, time, robux and session (which at the time were far more reduced in number, specially on the latter) could be spun for 35 shooms - albeit now Mystery Gacha now replaces this old random gacha, its prize is of 1 Tikit (from shoom exchange, 800 , Shooms), considerably more expensive.
- Session gacha wasn't as prominent yet, or didn't exist. Originally just Cottol, Euvias and 4 other creatures were there, and most of those creatures had been available in the normal random gachas before. Lots of creatures such as Beezu, Kendyll, Vin'rou,... were originally on the random gacha.
- Exploration gachas didn't exist, you could get most Photovores and Photocarnivore from the Generic Random gacha for 35 shooms or from more specialized gachas, like diet gachas, which fitted the creature. All creatures from Galaxy gacha which existed before those gachas released were available from standard random gachas as well.
- Rotation Store didn't exist. A creature whose base price was so high as 10 thousand Shooms did not exist, and most of the creatures which originally joined the store were part of other gachas.
- F. ex.: obtaining a Lure did not cost 1500 Shooms, nor Saukuryn 3500 (now it's on the Epic category, so it costs even more than that), usually if you wanted to get them fast you spun their specific random gacha, and by the time people unlocked those higher-level gachas most people got them from the 35-shoom-gacha at least once. Later Saukuryn got moved to Session Gacha, only to return to normal random gachas a while after and then go to Rotation Store.
- Imeaorn and Boskurro did not cost 3500 and 7500, they got released in the Mutation gacha for 300 Shooms as the only two mutation gacha creatures.
- Originally people could only get a max of 3850 Shooms with 4,025 Robux, now you can get 5750 Shooms for 2,500 Robux and the max is 15500 shooms for 5,000 Robux.
Difference between shooms depreciation and increase in acquisitive power
Please read carefully, because everything is explained inside.
Now, some people say incorrectly that giving lots of people more currency means the currency devaluates. This, for a game where most of the times, shoom currency value is set by gacha and store prices, which are fixed unless the developers change them, is mostly false, since a currency devaluating means people would need more currency to get the item (that is, more effort), but the price for the item is not changing (speculative prices on/related to Trade Realm are the only exception since they follow a different set of rules, baseed loosely on the principle of supply and demand, but unlike the real principle, full of contradictions because they do not meet the main requirement of it, being covering the production cost prize; and because for shoom-based creatures everybody can obtain many regular species for a max set prize. For example: when shooms get easier to obtain, they may take into account effort and attempt to rise the prices on the Realm of every single creature, including extremely-common ones or ones people can get for free during normal gameplay, but then they sell Hellion Warden for a very reduced fraction of its original prize, disregarding the needed effort to obtain that creature, because "the creature became common").
These are examples of depreciation:
- When developers added Session Gacha and started pouring creatures there, the shooms devaluated because all of a sudden the minimum price to get a significant amount of new, non-limited creatures rose to 500, even more since sometimes is hard to get a creature from that gacha.
- When Limited gacha price rose from 750 to 1000, then to 2500 shooms and then to 5000, shooms devaluated, because people needed more shooms to get items of the same category than before. Currently it went to 3000 and then 2500 again, which is still quite high.
- When developers removed Basic Random Gacha the shooms devaluated because (specially new) players could no longer obtain all random gacha creatures for 35 shooms, but almost twice that price minimum from carnivore, herbivore and omnivore gachas.
- When developers increased the price of Valentines Gacha from 750-1000 during Valentines Event 2021 to the 1000-3000 it was during 2022, the shooms devaluated because to obtain Valentine's Event creatures during the event they now needed far more effort/shooms and with higher chances of obtaining a duplicate.
- When devs added Rotation Store and started pouring creatures there the shooms devaluated, because more and more creatures which previously were in the hundreds of shooms (or dozens, like Saukuryn was) or just recently added, suddenly rose to the thousands, or even tens of thousands.
These are examples of what is not devaluation nor depreciation:
- Easter Event 2022, developers made Easter Creatures easier to obtain for (almost) free and gave people the ability to gain money fast for a limited time to be capable of buying different items from other gachas and stores without altering the gacha/store prices. Thus, Shooms did NOT devaluate over that. In fact, according to the definition, they appreciated, which means you get more currency for less effort, while at the same time, the same amount of currency still gives you the same items. If anything, they popped the inflation bubble that was over Easter creatures, palettes and tokens; those who held the large supply of inflated Easter limited items were upset that newer players were no longer forced to comply with their largely overpriced Trade Realm prices. To maintain this cycle of profit for themselves, they acted as though this was not the case in an attempt to maintain their current methods. In conclusion, players GAINED acquisitive power, allowing new players joining during that time to get a quick start on getting the old creatures and be up-to-date with older players, the currency did NOT devaluate because of the event. You can still buy all the available and seasonal creatures from gachas and stores for the same prices. And because of that, even selling currently-unobtainable creatures such as limiteds or off-season event creatures for the price pre-event would still give the same benefits to the owners.
