Description
| “ | Frigiboa are resilient insects that can be born from the thousands of dormant eggs that lay present in Sonaria's tundra. In the winter, they shed pieces of their cone like hides, fueling plant growth throughout the seasons in the harsh cold. | „ |
| ~ In-game Description |
Behavior
- Frigiboa are roach-like in their resilience to outside ailments like winter heat and radiation, but harmless on their own.
- Frigiboa can stay dormant while within their eggs for hundreds of thousands of years, they're finally introduced to the world when their eggs are exposed to rain or flooding.
- Frigiboa, like any other semi-aquatic creature, thrive in water.
Artist Headcanon
- Frigiboa are distantly related to the Militrua.
- Frigiboa prefer colder climates and probably hatch young in the spring while eggs are dormant through all the colder seasons.
Appearance
The Frigiboa is a six-legged, silverfish or isopod-like creature with a resemblance to its distant relative Militrua. It has plates on its back that extend along its tail, which ends in a pair of cerci (paired appendages at the end of the abdomen), and smaller appendages resembling wings fall behind its legs. Its head is round, with a pair of big eyes decorated with glowing plates resembling cartoony eyelashes, and a smaller pair of diamond-shaped ocellus. It has two pairs of antennae sprouting from its head, both ending with a wispy tip, with the second pair looking like whiskers sprouting from above its eyes. It seems to be heavily armored and has a color palette consisting of light browns and blues.
Males
Males present spike-like decorations at the end of their secondary coat plates on their torso and third leg pair wing-like appendages.
Females
Females present leafy/lichen-like decorations near the tip of their antennae and cerci.
Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Frigiboa. (editor list)
- Agile Swimmer is a passive ability that causes the player to receive the following buffs when submerged underwater for more than a second:
- 100% more stamina regeneration
- 50% more total stamina
- 75% more walk speed
- 75% more sprint speed
- A % increase in oxygen (oxygen increase percentage is based off the amount of oxygen the creature originally has)
Additionally, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted. Until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
- Ambush is a recode-only ability that allows a temporary speed boost according to an ambush multiplier inherent to the species. It can be toggled by pressing the correct active ability key, which may vary between creatures. It automatically deactivates after either a set period of time, when stamina runs out, or after halting movement, whichever happens first. Ambush can be used while sprinting. Activating the ability while another instance of the ability is active will not stack max time and stamina consumption. Additionally, Ambushing disrupts strafing.
- Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a percentage based passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at minimum. If an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% Block Bleed, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. If a creature's Block Bleed is negative, it may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect.
- Burn Block/Block Burn is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting burn status from melee attacks. It is percentage based. For example, if an attacker deals 5 burn per hit and the receiver has 60% block burn, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 burn.
- If a creature's block burn is 100%, then they are immune to Burn inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages. A negative value may indicate that the creature is vulnerable to burn effects.
- Frostbite Block/Block Frostbite is a passive ability that grants the user resistance to getting frostbite status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 frostbite per hit and the receiver has 60% block frostbite, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 frostbite.
- Block Poison/Poison Block is a passive ability that grants resistance to poison status once they reach max age (100). Like many other block defenses, it works by blocking a percentage of the ailment received. If a creature's Poison Block is 100%, then they are immune to those stats (and will be healed instantly if they are somehow applied) once they reach age 100.
- Burrower is an active ability that allows the user to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map and use burrows created by other players. If a user places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A user cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, excluding entering a burrow after its initial placement.
- Climber is a passive ability that allows the user to walk on walls and ceilings. To detach from a wall, press the Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
- Dart is an active ability of the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight that propels the creature forward in water while consuming a set amount of stamina. Both the speed boost and stamina consumption depend on the creature. All creatures capable of jump that are semi-aquatic can dart when underwater, along with aquatic species. A dart will become a jump if the impulse propels the creature outside of water. If there is not enough stamina, a creature cannot dart.
- The wiki prepends to dart power a negative symbol ("-") to determine if a creature's dart propels backwards.
- Defensive Bleed is a passive ability where the user defensively inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on their attacker upon being bitten.
- Frostbite touch/Defensive Frostbite is an ability that defensively deals frostbite when bitten.
- Egg Stealer is an active ability that allows creatures to steal eggs from the nests of other players. If a creature has this ability, eggs are also highlighted with an egg icon when scenting.
- Fortify is an active ability with a 90-second cooldown that wipes almost all status effects deemed as negative, excluding thirst, hunger, plushie-derived effects, and weather effects. It will also wipe beneficial status effects if they contain at least one debuff. It grants a short immunity to all status effects gained after being activated, and increases weight by 5% for a short period according to the stack number (3, in this case).
- Frosty is a passive ability that causes the user to receive +25% stamina regeneration, +25% health regeneration, -25% thirst depletion, and -25% hunger depletion during Winter and Famine. Additionally, it prevents getting hypothermia from blizzards.
- Hunker is a passive ability that activates when a user with this ability strafes. While active, hunker reduces the creature's speed by 25%, damage by 50%, and reduces damage taken by a percentage based on what is listed for the creature. For example, a creature with 75 hunker will only receive 25% of damage while the ability is active.
- Iron Stomach is a passive ability that allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting negative ailments from it--preventing them from getting the Sickly Status.
- Jump is an active ability pertaining to the special control Jump/Dart/Glide/Flight that allows a creature to jump on land. Creatures can turn during jumping. If a semi-aquatic creature with Jump starts swimming and tries to jump, they will Dart instead.
Jump has an associated speed boost, stamina consumption, and age limit for every creature. Beyond that age limit, a creature will be unable to jump - that field is commonly used for creatures which will develop Glide or Flight on a later growth stage.
- If a creature's infobox on the wiki only has a jump age stat, that means that the creature has actually jump 0 (no jump) and on the stage that jump supersedes Glide or Flight, it is equivalent as to being unable to jump nor flight nor glide.
- Latch is an active ability that allows the user to latch onto higher-tiered creatures. Creatures that the user has latched into cannot escape for 5 seconds. After that, the latched creature can struggle by pressing any button and will release such creature from the latch. The user can unlatch at any moment by pressing the same button used to latch in the first place.
- Unbreakable is a passive ability that allows the user to be immune to Bleed and Injury.
Carry-able Creatures
The Can-Carry lists features lists of creatures that Frigiboa is carried by, can carry (grab), can latch, and can be latched by in RECODE. To see the lists and their toggles to view each, click on the collapsible text to the right of the table below, to Expand or Collapse the list.
Can-Grab ListThis section is intended to list the non-elder fully-grown adult creatures that the non-elder fully-grown Frigiboa can grab and carry (pick-up), taking into account if this creature has grab/latch and discounting any other special abilities. The Frigiboa (a(n) omnivore) is a tier 1 with 1500 lbs of weight and as long as it has the Grab Ability, it can pick up any creature of lower or equal tier with enough lighter weight difference.* There is no creature which the Frigiboa can currently carry

Trivia
- Concept by HappyPoltergeist, CatasticalCalamity, and torviin.
- Inspired by silverfish, triops, pinecones, winter, and (loosely) sea scorpions.
- Frigiboa has 4 eyes, the first set being the more obvious ones and the second set intended to be the small diamond shapes on its head.
- Animated by Mukudori.
- It is the second creature to have sky-blue blood, the first being Yenyasha.
- Due to this, when killed, the Frigiboa drops a carcass of the same color in Legacy.
- This is an actual color in some Earth creatures from those that use hemocyanin, a blue oxygen carrier that replaces hemoglobin in some invertebrate's blood. However not in the light shade Frigiboa presents. In fact, Frigiboa's looks more like the Antarctic icefish's, which is white/transparent due to the complete lack of oxygen carriers, being plasma and white cells the ones coloring the blood.
- It is the first Mission System creature which cannot be used to unlock its own mission in one go.
- This is due to it having Winter tag, which prevents it from getting cold on the first place.
- Some players refer to it as "roach," "bug," or "fridge" due to how the game's filter system sometimes tags it and its appearance.
