The Easter Event of 2022 (the game's second ever Easter Event) started on April 15th, at 7:11 PM PST. Events typically last three (3) weeks long, and it effectively ended on May 6th.

This was the first time in which map changes, creatures, and event content were all released at once, which made for a content-heavy update drop for players to enjoy. It was also the first event to feature methods of obtaining event items in both gachas and a creature store, both requiring Event Egg currency to obtain the featured event items. The new creatures that were anticipated to release over the course of the event included the Moonelle, Lenarabu, and Ovufu. Older creatures from the Easter Event of 2021 also returned, as all event-type creatures will become available again during their respective events anytime their event is held.

Currency

Similar to previous events, the 2022 Easter event introduced its own special currency, Egg Eggs. Eggs could be obtained in multiple ways, some of which included fighting the event's boss, finding collectible eggs around the map, nesting other players, and buying them from the Easter Shop with Robux Robux.

Boss Fight

The event was planned to release with the boss fight available to players on April 15th, however, due to an unforeseen difficulty in which access to codes became impossible for the update drop window, the boss was announced to drop the next day instead. It got delayed once again due to personal-life matters, most likely until the second Friday from the beginning of the event. This resulted in a creative redirect that stated the boss was sleeping, which was depicted in dialogue on the portal. However, the Boss Arena was still accessible by flying high-enough in the sky.

What is known about the boss fight:

  • Despite the boss fight portal being on land, purely aquatic creatures could participate in the fight because the teleport bubble encompassed part of the sea below, albeit they still took beached damage.
  • The arena refused to teleport people if only "healer" creatures were present, although healers were still able to do damage to the boss.
    • The damage done by healers, while it was able to kill the boss faster, was not counted for the rewards.
  • You could not menu, grow, or elder while in the Arena; but you were able to be nested outside of the battle.
  • Cold Environmental effects didn’t affect you near the Arena, and Meteors were not able to hit players. However, a tornado could still catch you if you were not sheltered enough, before Tornadoes got removed.
  • You could not hurt other players by biting, nor grab or drop them, when close to the arena. Biting damage was also disabled inside the Portal dome.
    • However, you could get someone inside the arena and drop them if both of you grabbed the same piece of food at the same time, and one of you then got teleported in.
  • Food and water indicators would not deplete as long as you were close enough to the arena.
  • All damage, dealt or received, was percentile. This means that all creatures were able to deal an equal amount of damage to the boss and its minions, and all creatures received an equal amount of damage (ex. both an Eulopii and a Kendyll could kill something in the same amount of hits, and both could die from the same amount of hits during the fight, if health regeneration and healing abilities weren't taken into account).
    • When counting HP regeneration and healing abilities, though, this actually favored creatures with healing abilities and high HP regeneration, such as Ani, Archalium, Moonelle or Ura, albeit breath users would probably not work if they touched the ground.
    • When biting the boss a "-8", "-7" "-6", "-3", "-2.5", "-1.5" or "-1" would appear inversely proportional to how many creatures were fighting the boss (-8 when fighting it alone, -1 when lots of people), "-20" would appear if you were fighting the minions regardless of the number of attackers.
    • Due to this, killing a minion would only take 5 bites, but you needed a variable amount of bites to defeat the boss.
    • Healers could see the damage but could not actually kill the minions.
    • If the boss or the minions killed all of the fighters, the game would consider the battle as lost.
  • Special abilities and breaths would not work on the boss or its minions, instead the player would see text which would read "Your breath does nothing!" or "Your ability doesn't affect the boss", after that your breath would stop working altogether and Q abilities might have stopped working too.
    • If you managed to hurt a fellow player with a breath, the damage done would be healed instantly, but any effects would remain on the victim.
  • There was a limited time to defeating the Boss. If it was not met the "mission" would be considered a failure, and you would be returned to the main map.
    • You only had 10 minutes to defeat the boss, despite the counter on the portal saying it was 15.
  • The Boss was followed by 2 (originally 3) waves of minions, each spawning 4 minions, with each wave doing a bit more damage than the previous.
    • While there were minions the boss could not be harmed, and it would be encased in a translucent purple icosahedron.
    • Between waves people needed to deal 320 damage to the boss to pass into the next phase (40 bites of 8 damage each, if playing alone).
  • After the battle, the player would receive a score depending on their role and contribution: from L, to F, D, C, B, A, S, S+, S++ and S+++ (with S being 100% effort, S+ up to 200% effort, and S++ from 200% up to 300%):
    • If your role was considered medic, the contribution would be the HP healed.
    • If your role was considered fighter, the contribution would be the damage done to the boss.
    • If the boss was not defeated, nothing would be gained, regardless of score.
    • S+++ score was extremely rare, but it has been seen it could give up to 500 shooms (previously 2000), 650 eggs, a species/palette related to the event, and a revive token.
      • It is still unknown if this was even possible to obtain after the rewards were nerfed, but it may have been possible to get it if you could heal over 450,000 HP in a single battle.
    • The S++ score initially would give you usually above 500 shooms, 325 eggs, a species/palette related to the event, and a revive token. The reward would be doubled if you had the springram plushie equipped, to 1025 shooms and 560 eggs. Despite the difficulty, players were still able to obtain this score by soloing.
      • Later on, the shoom and egg reward got nerfed to a max of 320 Shooms and 260 eggs (by getting an effort beyond 300% as healer or fighter) and springram stopped buffing the reward.
    • S+ score would give the same rewards, but a few less shooms and eggs.
    • S score would give less than half of the shooms and eggs of the S++ score, but an event species/palette was still guaranteed, with a small chance of a token.
    • A score would give a chance for an event species or palette, though it was not guarranteed.
    • F score was given when the boss was not defeated or the boss defeated all the fighters, but you participated slightly in the battle.
    • L score was given when you didn't participate in the battle.
  • During the Boss Battle, volcanic eruption music would play.
  • The center of the boss arena had normal terrain which would change color depending on the season.
  • Every time a battle was won or lost, there was a 5 minute cooldown until a battle could start again.

Tips for fighting the Boss

Stalling the fight during the last minion phase is a useful trick to boost your score, biting the boss while the minion phase is still active won't count for damaging the boss but does for the damage dealt; while the extra time means healers can heal even more too.

As a group
  • In a small group, it is recommended to bring healers. Because the damage dealt by the boss and its minions is distributed amongst fewer players, that means more damage is done overall. Healers will help decrease the damage done.
  • In a larger group, it is possible to get away with having no healers since the distributed damage done by the boss/minions will be negligible.
  • Assuming most players in a group are fighters, it can be advantageous to use smaller creatures as opposed to larger ones. When hit by a healer, lighter creatures are healed for more of their total health than heavier creatures, giving a higher score to the healer. On the other hand, when larger creatures swarm the boss, it is likely that they'll accidentally bite each other and that may hide if the strike also hit the boss or not, so they cannot guarantee they are biting the boss, resulting in a lower score for unlucky players.
    • A group of small fliers is especially advantageous, as players can distribute themselves among vertical space as well and ensure they are in fact hitting the boss.

If you don't bring healers and have a smaller group, it's advised to follow some of the tips for fighting the boss alone, while letting another player tank the hits if you get too hurt.

Alone

Recommended to use high HP regeneration creatures, especially fliers like Ura, to rotate and, like with previous NPC creatures, attack as fast as possible while reducing the hits you take because the boss gets confused and uses an attack that won't harm you. Also recommended fliers to quickly dodge minions and attack them while outside range. However most times the rewards will be lesser than if fighting in a group.

An example can be seen here.

As an aquatic

Ask one or several heavy healers like Moonelle to help you and keep facetanking, act as a group.

An example can be seen here.

Eggs

Collectible eggs could be seen around the map, they would spawn wherever food bushes spawn, similar to previous events with scattered collectible items. An egg could be collected by walking into it.

  • Small, colorful eggs would grant egg currency (3 during the first week, then just 2);
  • Larger eggs with spiral patterns (Portal Eggs) acted as keys to unlock the boss fight portal. 5 large eggs were required to unlock access to the boss fight portal once. They could be found by sniffing, and their scent trail would show as a yellow line.

Small egg collectibles could not spawn underwater, albeit it's possible that they may have been able to spawn in shallow waters, or close to the coast, since they followed the same pattern as gift boxes and candy bags from previous events, and none would spawn at swamp. However, larger eggs were able to spawn underwater and could even spawn below the map.

Nesting

Any time a player was nested, the nester would earn Egg 50 Eggs. Along with the addition of this egg collection method, came a new nesting cooldown set to 10 minutes. This would prevent users from creating a nest a second time within 10-minutes of the previously created nest. By nesting in combination with the new Egg Shell plushie, players could create nests that would instantly provide two (2) fully incubated eggs.

  • The cooldown did not persist between sessions, so it was possible to cut the wait time of nest creation by joining a new server (or rejoining the old one after closing Roblox). However, this could easily become tedious in the wrong conditions.
  • Sometimes the cooldown would persist between sessions (probably if the player rejoined the same server), so it was best to hop to a different server when rejoining.

Easter Shop & Gacha

The Easter Shop was the Easter Event of 2022's unique event store, featuring ways to buy event currency with Robux Robux, event creatures, and event plushies. Similar to the previous Easter Event, this event also had its own Easter Gacha.

Creatures

Easter Event of 2022 creatures were featured and obtainable in both the Easter Shop and Easter Gacha.

Plushies

Plushie Image (WIP) Plushie Name Price Boost Effect
Bunny Bunny
(NEW)
Egg 900 Eggs 120% ambush speed (130% if creature already has ambush)
EggShell Egg Shell
(NEW)
Egg 4500 Eggs Automatically provides two (2) fully incubated eggs on nest creation
Springram Springram
(NEW)
Egg 9000 Eggs +20% egg collection boost for nesting + map collection (20% shoom boost for death rewards) + being able to sniff distinctive objects/tokens

Special Notes:

  • Unique to the Bunny plushie, is that it only applies 120% ambush speed if a creature does not have an ambush. If a creature has an ambush that is lower than 130%, then the plushie will apply 130% ambush to the creature. If a creature with ambush has an ambush speed higher than 130%, then the plushie will not apply any changes to the creature's ambush.
  • Springram plushie actually had two descriptions contradicting each other - the first one said it was a 20% boost, the other one said it was 60%. It was only 20% for nesting buffs, though. Additionally, Photovore Exploration tokens are scented as a turquoise line, Galaxy Tokens as a deep sea blue, and Mutation tokens as lime. Special scenting doesn't work underwater.
  • Springram originally buffed Boss Battle Rewards too, but a few days later that was removed.

Parts

Part 1

Part 1 of the 2022 Easter Event was released on 15th. Things were unique in that this event was the first event to feature both a creature store (called the Easter Shop) and its own event gacha simultaneously. The creature store and gacha both used Eggs. The first batch of creatures released to the creature store were the Kyiki, Phugu, and Moonelle, the last of which was new to this event. Each costed 1,000, 800, and 1,200 Eggs respectively. The Lenarabu was also added to the game through the Easter Gacha. As the gacha only contained the Lenarabu, it was guaranteed to obtain it for Egg 600 Eggs during Part 1.

Alongside primary event-related content came major adjustments to terrain provided by NauticaElurra (also the Founder of the CoS Wiki). These changes were applied to regions such as the complete remake of the Volcano and partial remodel of the Sea and Redwoods, as well as the addition of a secret location in the Tundra.

In summary, Part 1 provided the following:

  • Moonelle
  • Phugu
  • Kyiki
  • Lenarabu
  • New event Egg Egg currency.
  • Small eggs scattered across the map providing 3 Egg currency.
  • The Easter Shop and Easter Gacha
  • 1 new Easter Palette (Charcuterie Palette)
  • 3 new Easter Plushies (Bunny, Egg Shell, and Springram)
  • An event portal to the center of the map that describes the status of the boss as sleeping (with a static vortex inside).
  • Map changes to Volcano, Tundra, and Redwood Forest, with the addition of floating islands located closest to Dunes or the tower

Map Changes

The map received four changes between the Sea Update, the Tundra, Volcano, and Redwood Forest. With these changes also came the addition of the floating islands, in which the closest officially-named area is Dunes.

Sea Update

Most of the changes were recoloring and adding coral props in all the inner seas, but tide pools and a submarine volcanic trench close to the swamp were also added, and Flower Cove air pockets got fixed.

Tundra

In the Tundra, additional touchups were made and a special location was added. This location is underground and only accessible through a small tunnel covered by a tree on a slope.

Volcano

In the Volcano, the region was heavily modified to allow the shape of the terrain to appear more like a volcano. In addition, new assets such as rock formations, shells, and embers were introduced. Around parts of the volcano there were now small, shallow pools of water. In the center of the volcano is a special location that is accessible to most smaller creatures and some medium and larger ones (but not by aquatic creatures anymore) using a tunnel close to the base of the volcano between the Swamp and Volcano areas.

Redwoods Forest

In the Redwood Forest, the region was completely re-made using more appealing assets that matched the terrain more than the previously-used asset set. Now, the forest is more dense. The terrain texture was also re-painted to incorporate several paths to different areas. The river dividing the desert and the Redwood Forest was touched up, and layers of terrain textures were included to provide a smoother transition from biome-to-biome.

Floating Islands

Floating islands were also added with the Easter Event update. The islands are closest to the officially-named Dunes area and unofficially named Sky Tower or Flier's Peak/Flier's Rock. This formation has three large floating chunks, and in the largest chunk is a small tunnel leading to a larger space inside the island itself.

  • The water on the island that has its own waterfall is not drinkable.
  • The floating islands were just out of reach so that tornadoes could not effect players on the islands before their removal.

Part 2

Part 2 of the 2022 Easter Event was released on 23rd April.

The Boss & Portal

The boss, a bunny-faced, scorpion-tailed, four-legged creature, was released (additionally the portal gained an animated vortex effect). The boss was (and is still) not an obtainable species and the model was an example of Roblox's new mesh deformation, which was specifically selected to help reduce the intensity of loading hundreds of extra parts for players in fights.

To get to the arena to fight the boss, players had to use the portal. To use the portal, which was located in the center of the map, players were required to collect 5 Portal Eggs (big shiny eggs with yellow scent trails) . Players had to collect 5 Portal Eggs for every server they entered, though they were only required to do so one time per server. Eggs collected would stay with the user even when logging or going to the menu. Only when the user left the server were they required to re-collect Portal Eggs in order to use the portal again.

There was a spherical bubble dome indicator around the portal showing if you meet the requirements or not, which was indicated by the color of the dome (red when not meeting requirements and green when meeting requirements). If you met all of them, you simply had to wait inside to get teleported into the Arena.

  • While inside the dome, all melee attacks were disabled, however ability affects such as Breaths, Dazzling Flash, Fear, and so on would still take effect. Players were also able pick each other up while in the dome, so it was advised to be wary of going AFK, as some players would carry AFK creatures outside the dome's protection to kill them.
Boss Fight Drops

After successfully defeating the boss, players would be given special rewards based on their contribution to the fight. Players were recognized as FIGHTERS or MEDICS depending on if the creature they were using dealt damaging or healing bites. Each player was rewarded based on their contributions to the fight according to their role. The greater the contribution, the better the rewards.

Rewards included Shoom Shooms, Egg Eggs, event palettes, any returning event species (Kyiki, Phugu, Buff Eulopii, or Verdant Warden), new event species, and Revive Tokens. Currency scaled with contribution and other rewards were based on altered drop chances.

Dome Color Meanings

  • Red: not enough Portal Eggs collected. You could not get inside. The dialogue that appeared inside the portal would let players know how many eggs they needed to collect in order to be teleported.
  • Blue: enough eggs, but a battle is ongoing. It may also mean that the cooldown had not yet reached zero. You had to wait for the battle to end to be allowed to get inside the Arena, preferably outside the dome so the game would not glitch the Portal bug counter, as sometimes it would say you got in, but would not teleport you.
  • Green: enough eggs and there's no battle ongoing, meaning you were able to get into the fray once the time counter reached 0.

Easter Gacha

Additionally, the price for rolling the Easter Gacha rose from Egg 600 to Egg 1800 Eggs and Verdant Warden was added to the gacha.

Shoom-to-tikit converter

By petition of the Discord staff, measures to make a shoom drain were made. One of them was creating the Shoom-to-tikit exchange, costing 800 shooms per tikit. Later on an egg-to-tikit function was also added.

In summary, Part 2 provided the following:

  • Boss battle.
  • Verdant Warden was added to the Easter gacha.
    • Easter gacha prize rose to Egg 1800 Eggs.
  • All Easter Creatures added as a Boss Battle Reward (including Buff Eulopii).
    • Later on shooms and egg rewards from the boss battle were nerfed.
  • The event portal now had a vortex animation and would tell you the requirements or how long you needed to wait to get into the Boss battle.
  • Normal Eggs wouldn’t give 3 Egg Eggs anymore, just 2; but using a Springram plushie would still give 5.
  • Tornadoes were removed.
  • Later on requirements to obtain creatures and plushies from the event store were buffed, making them cost at least 10 times more than before.
  • Shoom-to-tikit converter: 800 Shooms -> 1 Tikit.

Part 3

Part 3 of the 2022 Easter Event was released on 30th April.

In summary, Part 3 provided the following:

  • Ovufu added to the Easter gacha.
    • Easter gacha price rose to Egg 3800 Eggs.
    • Ovufu was added to the boss battle rewards too.
  • Egg-to-tikit conversion added: 1000 Eggs -> 1 Tikit.

Trivia

  • For a short time period after the event's release, the Moonelle was available in the Photovore gacha. This was then fixed in newer servers via a soft patch that would gradually update the rest of the servers over time.
  • This was the first event to use nesting as a method of obtaining event currency.
  • During this event, players would often crash or lose connection in public servers due to the instability of Roblox at the time (or complications regarding the boss battle as well as teleporting too many players at once).
  • Shoom and egg rewards were nerfed a few days after release.
  • During part 2 all prices in the Easter Shop were buffed.
  • For the first 48 hours of Part 2, the earn rate of Shoom Shooms averaged around 1,000 per boss fight at S++ score and with the Springram plushie boost and was later changed to Shoom 320 Shooms per boss fight at S++, regardless of whether the Springram plushie was equipped or not.
  • In some servers the portal counter was bugged at “the next battle begins in 00:00” regardless of the actual amount of time left. It also would not teleport players in.
  • The Easter Boss was nicknamed by the community several times, one of the most known nicknames being "Rebecca".
    • However, the Easter Boss’ official name is "Scrambler".
