Photovores are a type of diet that rely on sunlight for their dietary needs, so they only need to drink water. All photovores have the ability to scent for fresh water by pressing the H key on computer (or the Sniff button on mobile). On legacy, a blue line will direct them to the nearest fresh water; while on recode, multiple water icons indicate the rough direction of all nearby ware sources. They can also sniff for edible plants and meat, but cannot eat it.

Currently, most of them are located in the Photovore Exploration Gacha. This is one of the rarest diets in the game, with 15 total released creatures so far.

Upon dying, they drop a plant carcass edible by every other diet.

These creatures tend to be easiest to grow, since water is the most common and reliable source. On the other hand, with a few exceptions, they tend to have lower attack stats and abilities compared with non-photovores. Due to how they lack any need to eat (with the stomach indicator practically non-existent), they are immune to any hunger-draining/boosting effect.
