The most common classifications for creatures are non-limited or limited, but there are many different ways to classify a creature to help determine its value and rarity. In Creatures of Sonaria, there are these:
Starter Creatures
Starter Creatures are provided to new players upon first playing the game with an open option among two (originally three free, which included the Reviiaton in Legacy, and now in recode a third premium option, obtainable later in-game) different creatures, which makes them the most easily obtainable creatures in the game. There are currently 3 starter creatures:
- Legacy Mode:
- Lissiceous (since game's release).
- Momola (since 22th December 2022).
- Recode Mode:
- Kaluaka/Vin'rou (since 22nd September 2023).
- Sochuri (since 22nd September 2023).
- Saukuryn (Premium pack along with the other two recode starters) (since 22nd September 2023).
Non-Limited Creatures
Standard Non-limited Creatures are the second most easily obtainable creatures in the game for a minimum of 65-85 Shooms or 26-34 minutes worth of playing to roll for a creature in the Random Diet Gachas, among the many other Gachas for a higher chance of obtaining a desired creature (at a higher cost). This ease of earning creatures means that non-limited creatures have little value. However, many players will adjust values based on opinions based on appearance, newness, power, tier, or anything else. It is possible for some of these creatures to become Limited Creatures through selection over time, as did Trikylo and Mekmek. Or to move to other gachas, either temporarily or permanently, such as the Kendyll, Saukuryn, Exterreri, Gramoss, Nindyr, and Shro which were moved for a time to the Session Gacha and then either returned to common gachas or rotation store.
However, there are a few exceptions to this easy-to-get rule:
Ex-Starter Creatures
Those which were once starter creatures but lost their position. Due to that, they remain slightly more common than other Non-Limiteds Creatures but eventually normalize.
There are currently 4 ex-starter creatures:
- Brequewk (replaced by Momola as a starter in Legacy).
- Lissiceous (in Recode).
- Momola (in Recode)
- Reviiaton (aquatic selection box removed a few months after the legacy game got offically released).
Mission Reward
Mission Reward creatures are unlocked (not obtained) by completing a hidden task with the right requirements. After completing a mission, they will permanently appear in relevant Gachas and will be obtainable from there. As of now, all of them appear in the standard main Gachas, making them a standard non-limited once unlocked. Do not confuse with Mission System Creatures, a similar concept applied to a special store which needs to be unlocked (completing a mission) periodically to automatically obtain a new species of the sort.
In Recode, Secret Mission Reward absorbed Mission System creatures (Now also tagged as Mission Reward) with them, with the only differences between the both of them being that the public Mission Reward Creatures tasks are not hidden and that they are still not available in gachas if the quests are completed.
- See Mission Reward
- There are currently around 18 Mission Reward Creature(s).
Mission System creatures
Those obtained after completing a specific set of visible tasks from the mission menu. They can be common, timed, limited or limited event, but apart from that and in contrast with the legacy Mission Reward creatures they don't cost any income to the player to obtainLEGACY/their missions are not obscured in-gameRECODE.
- See Legacy Mission System and Recode Mission System
- Currently there are/is 12 mission system creatures.
Specific-requirement gachas
These gachas require of you to complete a specific quest (currently represented by tradeable tokens) to spin them once, apart from the shooms cost, making it more difficult to obtain since some of those may take a while to unlock. Currently they are all creatures on Session Gacha and any explorer Gacha. Due to since end of 2021 all non-limited, non-event Photovores and Photocarnivores were moved here, those diet categories are now harder to obtain. Additionally, something similar happened with All-terrain creatures, since most non-limited of this mobilty type got moved to these gachas.
Explorer Gacha Token Creatures
Token creatures are creatures that can only be unlocked through explorer gachas. These gachas require specific tokens, which are often spread around the map. These tend to be cheaper in terms of currency spent but harder in terms of finding such token.
Session Gacha Creatures
Now, while its respective token is necessary for the gacha to spin, the token itself is actually used as a way for the game to verify you completed the Session Gacha quests to unlock it, so every time you complete all its missions you unlock a token which lets you spin the gacha once. The difficult part here (albeit a bit less in Recode) is completing the quests. Additionally, they are more expensive, having to pay and extra fee in Shooms, and with the gacha itself having several creatures.
Travelers' Gacha Creatures
Now, while its respective token is necessary for the gacha to spin, the token itself is actually used as a way for the game to verify you completed the Traveler Gacha quests to unlock it, so every time you complete all its missions you unlock a token which lets you spin the gacha once. Fortunately they are not as expensive to obtain from the gacha itself as Session, but its requirements make it specially difficult due to being far more strict and specialized than session gacha, and unless timing things right (that is, having the first half completed before a reset, then completing the remaining quests before a reset to unlock a new token and then perform the first part for the next token, and then after the boost reset, repeat it to get a second token, which will unlock the first part of the requirements again and will allow the player to do another half of a token, giving a total of 5 parts in a short time if doing a pipeline), far slower to complete and needing 12 hours per token.
Boosted Gacha Creatures
Boosted Gacha is the recode's equivalent of Traveler's Gacha, but the quests are now totally non-combat oriented and do not have a cooldown, finally making now travellers gain its boosted tokens by travelling and not derailing from that. As such, they are far less stressing to obtain and thus more common.
Death Gacha Creatures
Death Gacha Creatures are those which require a high enough death score to obtain the proper token to obtain. As such, it can be moderately difficult to obtain such token. Being an addition with Recode Gameplay, they are quite rare, albeit Ripirin is the only one which can also be found in Legacy mode.
Time Gacha Creatures
Time GachaLEGACY/Time PointsRECODE creatures are non-limited but possibly harder to obtain for casual players, possibly even more than developer creatures since even from trade realm the highest-time creatures are sold at noticeably higer prices than any Dev creature. Balancing this is the fact that you can spin one gacha to automatically get an specific creature instead of a random chance.
Robux Shop Creatures
Robux-shop creatures are just as difficult to get as most Developer creatures, in fact some of them may have been a developer creature in the past. However, their price range varies more significantly, because while both cost Robux, their cheapest one is still less expensive than the cheapest developer creature, while its most expensive is far more costly than the most expensive Developer creature.
- See Robux Shop Creatures.
Tikit Gacha Creatures
Tikit Gacha creatures are one of the most difficult non-limited, no additional quest creatures to obtain, due to the novelty and high conversion rate needed to transform Shoom/Event Currency and tikited creatures into Tikits.
Developer Creatures
Developer or Dev Creatures are the third most easily obtainable creature. They are guaranteed availability in the in-game Shop for a fixed price and will not become Limited. The price of each creature in Robux depends on the creature's tier, multiplied by 100. Tier 1 creatures are 100 Robux, Tier 2 creatures are 200 Robux, and so on. Currently, the only Developer creatures in-game are the Qurugosk, Tohukos, Nyctoxon, Ura, Archalium, Dowatt and Opralegion.
Rotation Store Creatures
Those creatures which can be obtained (exclusively or not) from the Rotation Store.
Event Creatures
Event creatures are creatures that appear in special Events at some point and usually become obtainable only once per year. These creatures can be unlocked from gachas, stores, or the Event Missions from the Mission System.
LSS Event Creatures
A special subcategory of Event creatures that are obtainable during LSS Events. These are events that are done by completing missions and donating Shooms. The LSS Event is likely to come back every year in May, after the Easter Event is over, but it is not automatically guaranteed, unlike most other regular Events.
Limited Creatures
Limited creatures are creatures that appear in the Limited Gacha. Limited Theme Creatures appear in the gacha in waves and stay in the Gacha for a few months. Each wave has its own theme, such as Dinosaurs and Elements. A wave may consist of multiple swaps until all creatures in the themed set appear. Limited species that once appeared in the Limited Gacha were explained by Erythia to later reappear once the game has 7 or more cycles. Their are currently three released themes, Dinosaurs, Elements, and Ancient history.

Badge Creatures
Beta Badge Creatures
Beta Badge Creatures were only available to players that either played during Beta or supported the game during Beta by spending Robux. Aolenus and Keruku were offered as gifts to the community for supporting Creatures of Sonaria before the Official Release: to anyone that played during Beta, they received Aolenus, and to the players that supported the game with Robux purchases, they received both Aolenus and Keruku. These creatures are no longer directly obtainable (only through Trade Realm) and their value is often based on the quantity of each. The number started at 544,698 for Aolenus and 24,222 for Keruku, however, the number may have changed due to players selling their species for Shooms and Tikits or losing the species some other way.
Recode Badge Creatures
Recode Badge Creatures were only available to players that either purchased early access for the Official Recode or supported the game by spending Robux in the early access. Mijusuima was available to players who purchased early access for themselves and/or other players, allowing players to obtain multiple species by buying multiple access tokens. Corvurax was given to players who made any Robux purchases within the early access, or to players who purchased the species for 275 Robux once the early access was public. The number started at 92,012 for Mijusuima and 33,584 for Corvurax, however, the number may have changed due to players selling their species for Shooms and Tikits or losing the species some other way.

Unreleased Creatures
Unreleased Creatures are not obtainable in-game to players by normal means. In most cases, the data for these creatures is not even present in the live game as a valid species.
However under some very rare circumstances, creature data may exist ahead of time. In these cases, the creature is strictly usable only by developers, and even owning the species will not allow standard players to use these creatures. For standard players, attempting to use a creature tagged as Dev-Only will cause them to be booted back to the menu immediately upon use.
