Description
“ | The embodiment of joy, fun, and playfulness. It is probably the happiest creature to have existed in Sonaria, living carefree in flower fields and playing amongst the flora in the Flower Cove. The sight of an Aueko marks the start of an exceptionally beautiful Springtime, as well as the guaranteed joy you will feel. | „ |
~ In-game Description |
Behavior
- Aueko are very playful and enjoy the days as they pass.
- Aueko emerge around spring and don't have many natural predators. Even if they were to be attacked, these playful but skittish creatures would bring the sensation of joy and fun to the attacker.
- If left no choice, Aueko will fight back but will mostly forget about the fight later on.
- Aueko can recognize and remember faces. If they come across a creature who they've seen kill a pack member, they will avoid them at all costs.
- Aueko are very sentimental. They care deeply for one another, living in groups of 4-8.
- When courting, the male offers a female a brightly-colored flower it picked while performing a small ritual of vocalizations and tail waving, inviting the female to join the dance.
- Aueko's flower is used to make themselves appear bigger or for courting dances.
- Aueko are excellent parents, nurturing their hatchlings until they are old enough to forage for food.
- Aueko hatchlings are very curious and will play with other species. This isn't really safe, but most of the time, their parents are nearby.
- They can climb on most surfaces, like walls and ceilings, thanks to sticky pads on their feet.
Artist Headcanon
- Described to be "arguably the happiest creature of Sonaria" by Kyzenith.
- Kyzenith noted that the death of an Aueko "is a loss for the attacker as they do not get to experience the real springtime joy".
- A happy Aueko is a healthy one. In rare cases, they don't look as bright, and it's probably because they are unwell.
- The flower on an Aueko is like a real flower, but they have good regenerative abilities. This flower can release a sweet scent from the "flower" on their neck to calm an attacker.
- The type of berries an Aueko eats determine the scent they give off.
Appearance
The Aueko is a colorful, quadrupedal, gecko-like creature. It has two large, crested eyes, and several frills on its body, most noticeably a flower-like frill pattern surrounding its head. It also has a 'mane' of petal-like frills along its back. Its palette consists mostly of green and pink, though the Aueko also has a typical 'Easter egg'-like pattern on its underbelly, with other multicolored patches on its throat and the sides of its tail. The Aueko appears to have no teeth.
Males
Males have no additional features.
Females
Females have frill-like feathers on their hind legs.
Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Aueko. (editor list)
- Agile Swimmer is passive ability, similar to legacy's Streamlined, which buffs the player when submerged underwater for more than a second, receiving the following buffs:
- 100% more stamina regeneration
- 50% more total stamina
- 75% more walk speed
- 75% more sprint speed
- 15% more oxygen, if the creature is a semi-aquatic; 180% more oxygen otherwise.
- Additionally, like with legacy Streamlined, a glider semi-aquatic (and an aqua-glider) can abuse of the extra stamina to increase the number of glide flaps it can perform from the water boosted, since until they touch the ground or stop gliding, the boosted stamina amount will remain.
- Note that since most of these are multipliers, creature incapable of naturally recovering stamina underwater do not get any stamina regeneration boost (as any fraction of 0 is still 0).
- Bleed Block/Block Bleed is a passive ability that grants the creature resistance to getting bleed status from melee attacks at the very least, and every other source at most. Recode's equivalent of bleed defense; it is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% bleed defense, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed.
- If a creature's Block Bleed is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed inflicted by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages, that is, a creature with 100% Block Bleed will have some fraction of bleed defense while growing, being such fraction bigger as it grows.
- A negative value in-game may indicate an extra vulnerability to the status effect this ability is supposed to protect from.
- Burrower is an active ability that allows the creature to place up to 4 (or a specific creature limit) burrows anywhere on the map, and use other burrows from other creatures. Burrow entrances are two-way, so the exit can be accessed inside the burrow. If a creature places more entrances than the maximum allowed, the oldest burrow and exit will be replaced. A creature cannot place a burrow entrance inside its own burrow or inside someone else's burrow. There is a 3 second cooldown between entering and exiting burrows, not including entering after its initial placement.
- Climber is a passive ability that allows a creature to walk on walls along with ceilings and some uncollidable terrain if climbing on the right angle. To detach from a wall or ceiling, press Space on PC. On Mobile, press the dedicated Detach button, or, if the creature has Jump, press the jump button.
- Defensive Necropoison is a passive ability that makes a creature necro-toxic by melee - that is, being bitten by another creature will cause the attacker to receive Necropoison Status, as much as the bitten creature has labeled on their stats and affected by modifiers such as some plushies or resistances. Does not stack with itself, but gets worse over time unless the creature is actively healing it.
- Defensive Poison/Melee Toxin is a passive ability that makes a creature toxic by melee - that is, being bitten by another creature will cause the attacker to receive Poison Status, as much as the bitten creature has labeled on their stats and affected by modifiers such as some plushies or resistances. Stacks with itself.
- Tail Drop/Autotomy is an active ability which allows a creature to intentionally self-amputate a body part (usually the tail) to escape. After committing this action, the creature gains the Tail Dropped status. After the tail is dropped, it becomes equivalent to a player carcass and gives you meat (and also vegetables, if it comes from a Photovore or Photocarnivore). Has a 10 second cooldown. As the dropped tail transforms into a carcass, relative to the creature's diet, colors of the original tail won't appear on the autotomized area. It takes some percent of the hunger bar to regrow the tail (unless a creature menues).
