The Adharcaiin is a Tier 2 semi-aquatic carnivore. The species is available in the Robux Shop for 250 Robux. The stored version is available in the Trial Creatures Shop for
562 Shooms.
Description
“ | Adharcaiin is a deadly water-dwelling predator that is not shy to hunt for sport. They are reclusive and elusive, living among the bottom of kelp forests waiting to drag down and drown its victims. | „ |
~ In-game Description |
Behavior
- One of the most horrifying behaviors of the Adharcaiin is that it lures its prey with its lantern, then drags its victim into the depths of the ocean and allows it to bleed out and asphyxiate slowly. Once killed, the Adharcaiin feeds on the carcass, specifically the heart of the creature.
- The Adharcaiin is a mindless, droning creature whose intentions are mysterious and malicious.
- When it emerges from the murky depths of lakes and swamps, it stalks and murders creatures for fun. It generally lacks any hunger and feeds very rarely; most hunts are done simply out of boredom. It is a merciless hunter.
- Its long horn and cleft hooves are used to impale its targets. It features a large set of fangs on both the upper and lower jaw, while the rest of its teeth are large, crudely sharpened molars that look as if they were made to eat leaves.
Artist Headcanon
- It is feared by most residents of Sonaria and is generally a very elusive and rare creature.
- It often hides in the deep oceanic kelp forests of Sonaria, where it awaits unsuspecting prey to come across its path.
- These kelp forests are extremely dense to the point that most light gets filtered out, leaving the depths and bases of the forest to be extremely dark.
- It does not seem to be of natural origin, featuring stitches and buttons along its body and wood-like ball joints that enable its movement. Its lantern glows eternally, producing a chilling screaming sound when the Adharcaiin/Legacy is enraged.
- It's said that souls are held in the lantern-like container that hangs from its horn.
Appearance
The Adharcaiin resembles a cross between a plushie and an accursed unicorn with buttons engraved in its elbows, a murky river-like coloration, and seaweed/kelp growing on its neck and tail. It's also recognizable by the several seam lines all across its body. A glowing lantern and shackles are visible on its horn. Additionally, the creature has a "hollow" torso that reveals bones. These bones are also seen on other points of the body, indicating possible injury or decay, which is also evident through its green, perhaps moss-covered or rotten, flesh. Its body seems to show signs of having lived in a swamp for quite some time. The Adharcaiin has wooden joints throughout its body and doll-like movements.
Males
Males have a single shackle on their front left ankles.
Females
Females have stringy hair wrapped with seaweed growing from the tip of their tails.
Abilities
Main Article: Creature Abilities
This section is intended to list and describe the abilities of the Adharcaiin/Legacy. (editor list)
- Bleed is a passive offensive ability, where a creature inflicts a specific amount of bleed status on a creature with every bite (not with breath/ranged abilities or reflecting abilities) AKA "Offensive Bleed". This particular passive offensive is resisted by creatures with the Bleed Defense ability, and it does not work against creatures with the Unbreakable ability. The opposite of the Bleed passive ability is Thorns.[Collapse] Info[Expand] to know more about Bleed Status.
- Bleed Info:
- "Bleed" is also a status effect which stops health regeneration and deals raw damage to the victim every 3 seconds (meaning that from two creatures with identical bleed defense, the creature with the most health can endure bleeding for a far longer time before being crippled).
Like poison, your HP cannot fall from this status if you are sitting, cowering or laying down while gravely injured (below 10% max health); but unlike it, depending on how you move and what pose you are using, damage output and level changes.
While sitting, laying down, or cowering, visible bleed halves, and base bleed healing speed increases. Staying still and upright only makes bleed heal itself at a moderate pace, walking stops the bleed to heal on its own, and running not only increase the apparent bleed level by 1.375 approximately, but makes it slowly increase on its own.
It also follows a three stage severity system, on this case depending on the base amount of Bleed multiplied by a factor (x0.5 if laying down or sitting while still, x1.0 if still but standing up or walking, x1.375 if running or ambushing), which is what we see on screen:- STAGE 1 (0-10 bleed): health regeneration is disabled, plus raw damage except if below 10% health while sitting/lying (when staying still and not performing any healing animation, deals 0.5 damage when lying down, 0.75 while sitting, 1.0 when still upright, 1.5 when walking and 2.0 while running).
- STAGE 2 (1-20 bleed): stage 1 effects and decreases stamina regeneration by 25%.
- STAGE 3 (Beyond 21 bleed, with no longer a max of 30 while stationary): stage 1 effects but buffed slightly, plus a stamina regeneration decrease by 50%.
- "Bleed" is also a status effect which stops health regeneration and deals raw damage to the victim every 3 seconds (meaning that from two creatures with identical bleed defense, the creature with the most health can endure bleeding for a far longer time before being crippled).
- Bleed Defense is a passive ability that allows creatures to resist the effects of Bleed. It is percentage based, e.g. if an attacker deals 5 bleed per hit and the receiver has 60% bleed defense, then the receiver gets only 2 of that 5 bleed. If a creature's Bleed Defense is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed done by melee direct attacks once fully grown. This ability is gained gradually as the creature ages, that is, a creature with 100% bleed defense will have some fraction of bleed defense while growing, being such fraction bigger as it grows.
- Iron Stomach is a passive ability which allows the user to eat rotten meat without getting the Sickness ailment. Please note that while the Iron Stomach ability prevents getting this ailment, it doesn't remove the damage taken nor the thirst lost when eating rotten meat.
- Unbreakable is a passive ability that allows the creature to be immune to directly-applied physical ailments such as Bone Break, directly-applied Bleed (except when caused by thorns) and Ligament Tear, regardless of age, and thus complimenting other defensive passive abilities like Bleed Defense.
- Unbridled Rage is an active ability using the ability control (Q on PC or
> Actions > Use ability) that progressively applies a boost to damage that drains 1.5% of your max stamina every second, getting rounded to the nearest integer. The damage gradually increases as your stamina depletes, capping at 30% extra damage after reaching 50% stamina, and you cannot regenerate stamina while it is active. The ability ends when the user runs out of stamina or when cowering, sitting, or laying down. It has a 2 minute cooldown after ending.
Gameplay
Pros
The Adharcaiin is a fast semi-aquatic carnivore, allowing it to find and reach food easily, and if the conditions are too harsh, retreat to or from water. Thanks to its Iron Stomach, Adharcaiin needs to worry considerably less about eating rotten meat (ignoring Sickness from any source), albeit still being careful of the water and HP depletion spoiled food deals.
Its decent stamina combined with its complete Bleed Defense ensures it can run for a while and not be very worried about getting bitten by bleeders. Its Unbreakability ensures it cannot be crippled by Ligament Tearing or Bone Break as well.
Its natural damage getting boosted for a short time by Unbridled Rage may help it deal a ton of damage on creatures Adharcaiin would not normally be able to deal significant damage to, as well as end fights faster, aided by the fact that Adharcaiin has bleed, which stops the target from regenerating health and decreases health — especially against low-HP creatures.
It has one of the best night vision stats; this means Night Stalker will affect it the most, but it can triangulate where the Night Stalker creature is via its area of effect.
Cons
Its low health (extremely low for its tier) and weight may make it a target for more tanky creatures. It also does not have a breath, which makes it unable to attack from ranged distances.
While using Unbridled Rage, it cannot recover stamina and gets some of it drained. This, combined with its long cooldown, ensures the Adharcaiin cannot use its ability constantly nor be capable of a chase or escape after fully using the ability. Additionally, the inexperienced may forget how to deactivate this ability until running out of stamina unnecessarily, making this ability hard to master.
As a juvenile, it is particularly vulnerable to attacks due to the reduced stats they have, especially with its aforementioned low health.
Its stamina and stamina regeneration aren't very reliable for a glass cannon creature, meaning it can tire out easily in combat or when fleeing, making it even more vulnerable.
Carry-able Creatures
The Can-Carry lists features lists of creatures that Adharcaiin/Legacy is carried by, can carry, can grab, and can be grabbed by in LEGACY. To see the lists and their toggles to view each, click on the collapsible text to the right of the table below, to Expand or Collapse the list.
Trivia
- Concept by malarkeii.
- When malarkeii was making the concept, it was going to be more adorable but later was changed to something more sinister.
- Adharcaiin's name is of Scottish-Gaelic origin. The first part, “Adharc”, means “horn”, while the third syllable, “-caiin”, is derived from the word “snàthainn”, which means “thread”, though it isn't completely the same as the real word.
- Adharcaiin is based on the kelpie, which originated in Scottish folklore. Originally, the kelpie is a shapeshifter creature that lures unsuspecting prey into the water and devours them, except for their liver. Adharcaiin bears similarity in the fact it is a water horse that also drowns its victims.
- Adharcaiin is additionally based on a ball-jointed doll; it is not intended to be metallic, and its joints are made of wooden material. All aspects of Adharcaiin are organic except for the metal chains and lanterns that hang from it.
- Adharcaiin was previously obtainable through the Robux Gacha prior to the gachas removal. It followed the Robux Gacha trend in the sense of being a plushie-doll creature, like the other gacha creatures at the time: Zoocuu, Fleuralis, and Rukig.
- The flame in the lantern was formerly unable to be colored. This was patched on 6/10/22.
- Often called 'Water Horse', 'Sea Horse', or 'Swamp Horse' by players.
- The Adharcaiin is one of the only creatures that kills for fun.
- The Adharcaiin formerly lacked the Unbreakable ability; whether this was a mistake or not is unknown.
