Welcome to the land of Sonaria. A world filled with lush jungles, sandy deserts, open plains, lively, frigid glaciers, and tropical oceans. Today we will focus on a creature known for its strength, intelligence, and most of all, its ferocity. This is the Demon of Fire: Arsonos.

*insert dramatic, Arsonos fitting music ended with its roar*

Known as the "Flaming Devil" by the natives, the Arsonos (Arsonos flamaterius) is an imposing beast.

Appearance + Anatomy:

The Arsonos has a barrel-shaped chest, long, thick forelimbs, short hind legs, and a wide tail. Its back is covered in crooked spikes and large layers of scale armor that flow across the body from the tip of the snout to the near end of the tail. There are four claw-like spikes at the end of the tail. The chest has a large pattern on it, with parts that glow. Its head is narrow, with small eyes. It has a large jaw with upper and lower jagged canine teeth, an orange tongue, and thin, pointed ears. Two pairs of tendrils resembling bomb fused hang on the Arsonos' sides, one pair behind the jaws and one at the base of the tail. From its tail emits fire with spark-like particles, giving it the appearance of a bomb fuse that is about to go off. This supports the idea of it being a fire-breathing beast. The Arsonos is the apex predator of the fiery, volcanic regions it calls home, although it will make its home. One of its most unique characteristics is its bio-volcanic anatomy. Its internals are essentially surrounded in fire, a flame that burns hotter than the fire you'd see at a campsite. The Arsonos uses the glowing osteoderms on it's back and the torch at end of its tail as a ventilation system to let out any excess flame so it doesn't overheat itself.

Hunting:

It is a relatively fast hunter, but not a quick runner, so it utilizes ambush tactics to catch its prey. It will use the light emitted from its tail to lure in prey, then deactivate the light. Then once the victim is unsuspecting, it pounces, catching the animal in a quick burst of speed, pinning it down with its powerful forelimbs, then using its powerful bite to dispatch the victim.

Ecology:

Despite its intelligence, the Arsonos has one crucial flaw that overshadows it, pure rage. This animal's temper is by far the greatest and most destructive, going on rampages and killing anything in its way. Some speculate the rage comes from its rivalry with its frosted counterpart, the Nyctoxon. If it feels at all threatened, it will let its anger go in a fiery fit that leaves all left in its wake destroyed, scorched by its flame.

Evolution:

As time went on, the sudden changes of Sonaria caused the Arsonos to enter a state of extreme stress, barely being able to keep up with its rapidly changing environment. In response to this, it began to undergo thousands of years of evolution, becoming bigger, stronger, faster, and far more intimidating. This is the new Arsonos: Arsonos rex. Now known as the Demon King of Fire, this monster is everything about Arsonos flamaterius was, but better in every way. This allowed the Arsonos to keep up with the ecological changes in Sonaria, allowing it to adapt to living in all sorts of environments. Now, the Nyctoxon is no longer a struggle.

Conclusion:

Sonaria is a beautiful world with wonderful creatures, and the Arsonos is one of the most interesting, yet one of its earliest inhabitants. Love it or hate it, the Arsonos' fiery temper and burning rage will live on forever, and I think it's fair to say that this beast is truly the Demon of Fire.

I have an arsonos with the overgrown mutation. I would add it into arsonos mutation section of the arsonos' page but I don't know how to add it with the other references 😭 (if anyone can explain how to that would be great)
